As the Straw Hat Pirates were preparing to depart for Elbaf, the situation on Egghead Island spiraled out of control with the arrival of Marines. Admiral Kizaru, accompanied by nine Vice Admirals and a hundred Marine ships, stormed the island with the dual objectives of eliminating Vegapunk and capturing the Straw Hat Pirates. The Marines are determined to ensure that they don’t escape, making their task all the more challenging. To complicate matters further, Lucci and the CP0 members (excluding Stussy) have revealed their true intentions, confirming that the temporary alliance was a sham. Luffy and Zoro had their suspicions about Lucci’s truce proposal from the beginning, but they went along with it despite the Yonko’s agreement.
Previously, our encounter with CP0 served as an introduction to what’s more to unfold. The storyline involving Egghead promises to be a significant twist, and soon we’ll learn the reasons behind it. In the midst of all the turmoil, an unforeseen situation arises: Marine Officer Sentomaru steps up to challenge Kizaru. You might remember Sentomaru from the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, where he stood out as one of the most dedicated officers. However, this time, he chooses to prioritize his personal feelings above his duty. Despite their vast difference in power, Sentomaru remains resolute in his attempt to halt the Admiral.
One Piece Episode 1125 Makes Sentomaru vs. Kizaru Even More Tragic With a Flashback
It was previously established in One Piece that the bond between Sentomaru and Admiral Kizaru extends beyond just a superior-subordinate dynamic. Sentomaru affectionately calls Kizaru “Uncle,” indicating a level of respect that goes beyond rank. In Episode 1125, we learn that both Vegapunk and Kizaru had interactions with Sentomaru during his childhood. Given Vegapunk’s influential position within the World Government, he was acquainted with most of the higher-ups, even the Five Elders.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that he and Kizaru have been companions for an extended period. In a joint operation with Kizaru, Vegapunk stumbled upon a child who had successfully vanquished all the troublesome bears plaguing the villagers. Unfortunately, Sentomaru was banished from his village and was left without a home. Moved by his situation, Vegapunk hired him as his personal guard, and the three frequently spent significant time together. In their fierce encounter, Kizaru even looked back on old times and referred to his junior as endearing.
Despite the bitter irony of fate, they now face off as adversaries. It’s clear what transpired in their battle; Sentomaru was unable to overcome Kizaru. The Admiral, following his orders, slays young Marin and advances towards his old friend with the intention of taking his life. Fortunately, Luffy seizes an opportune moment to halt the Marine titan, initiating a rekindling of their duel that has been two years in the making. Regrettably, Sentomaru forfeited the opportunity to shield the man who provided him with a home. Moreover, defying orders during a crisis may exact a severe penalty. In all likelihood, Sentomaru’s position as a Marine Officer could be on the verge of extinction.
