Caution: Potential Thunderbolts spoilers lie ahead! The movie Thunderbolts has given us a glimpse into the future of the MCU, yet it has left many questions unanswered. One particular point of intrigue is the fate of Bob Reynolds and his alter egos, Sentry and The Void. As we await Avengers: Doomsday, the struggle between good and evil may intensify when Sentry’s darker side emerges. In a recent interview with Men’s Health, actor Lewis Pullman hinted at some exciting developments regarding his character, suggesting that anything is possible. With such immense power at his disposal, there’s a chance he could turn to the dark side when Avengers: Doomsday arrives. Here’s hoping his allies among the New Avengers can keep him on the right path.
When asked about Bob’s future, Pullman responded with great anticipation, “What a fantastic question! I’m eager to see what happens next. The Thunderbolts are keen on keeping tabs on him because they understand the potential risks if he falls into the wrong hands or lacks proper guidance. Yet, they also wish to keep him near for the possibility of utilizing his skills. He’s indeed a valuable resource.
They’re facing a challenging predicament,” Pullman explained. “Given the numerous characters that are set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, there will be plenty of chances to decipher each one’s role, and also predict how Bob might interact with any of them.
In the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s tricky to predict the role of either the New Avengers (also known as the Thunderbolts) or where they might fit in before the upcoming movie, Doomsday. Fans are actively discussing if Sentry, a character speculated to appear in the film, could match up against heavyweights like Thor. Interestingly, last time we saw Bob, he didn’t seem capable of summoning the powers of either Sentry or The Void, despite his attempts.
There are only a few movie and TV titles left to prepare for the impending Doomsday, with “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” being one of the major ones, releasing on July 25th in cinemas. On the small screen, both “Ironheart” premieres on June 24th on Disney+ and “Wonder Man” is anticipated for December, but it’s uncertain how much impact either could have on a potential crossover event. “Ironheart” was filmed in 2022, while “Wonder Man” will need to introduce an entirely new character.
Currently, Thunderbolts can be seen in cinemas. The movie Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on May 1, 2026.
*Thunderbolts refers to a fictional superhero team that appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. In this context, it’s used as the title of a hypothetical movie.
