It appears that, together with the PS5 launch of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, there’s also a possibility for a physical version of the game to be released by Limited Run Games. This information was spotted by VGC, as an ESRB listing for the game surfaced on their official website, hinting that it will be sold in retail stores such as Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon.
As of now, there’s no formal announcement regarding Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and even Limited Run Games’ official site doesn’t show it as an upcoming release. Additionally, the ESRB page doesn’t indicate any physical editions for the game. Instead, the provided links direct to search entries on various storefronts, which currently only offer codes for the digital version of the game on Windows and Xbox Series X/S.
It’s noteworthy that the ESRB site now includes a fresh listing for the original “Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice”, which is again being distributed by Limited Run Games, but on this occasion, it’s designed for the Nintendo Switch.
Limited Run Games is recognized for collaborating with different game creators and distributors to launch premium physical editions of games. Occasionally, these editions just contain the game disc, but often, they also include additional physical items such as maps, art books, posters, and soundtrack CDs.
Last week, an official confirmation for the launch of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 on the PlayStation 5 was made, putting an end to speculation that had been circulating. The forthcoming game will incorporate new features, which will also be incorporated into the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions through a free update. Notably, the title will leverage certain exclusive features of the PS5, such as haptic feedback using the DualSense controller and visual improvements tailored for the PS5 Pro.
Initially launched on PC and PS5 in May 2024, “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2” immerses players into Senua’s journey. Set in ninth-century Iceland, she is on a mission to rescue her people. Following its debut, the game received a trailer highlighting the praise it had earned from critics.
Last year, Dom Matthews, head of Ninja Theory studio, shared that the development for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 hadn’t started until they had finished working on their multiplayer game, Bleeding Edge. This was surprising given that the title was officially announced as early as 2019.
Matthews stated that while it’s been seven years since the last Hellblade game, development on Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 has been underway for a shorter period. When they announced it in 2019, they only had the trailer ready; the game itself was still in its early stages of development at that point.
Matthews expressed his feelings when asked, saying, “We were eager to make it happen.” He was referring to the enthusiasm they had for the innovative concept connected with the game announcement along with the console.
