This is the end of Seth Rogen and James Franco‘s stalemate.
Back in the day, way back in 1999 when we were all just starting out on “Freaks and Geeks,” I was lucky enough to share the screen with some amazing people who later became my friends. However, life took us in different directions recently. But guess what? We both found ourselves at the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special in New York City on Feb. 16! It’s moments like these that make me realize just how much I love this crazy thing called show business.
Despite not crossing paths with Franco on the red carpet, I had the pleasure of seeing both Seth Rogen and James Franco make their separate entrances at the golden jubilee celebration for Saturday Night Live.
At 42 years old, Rogen cut a fine figure in an off-white suit with striking black lapels, while his wife, Lauren Miller, donned a chic one-shoulder black gown, as they posed together during the recording at 30 Rock.
Simultaneously, Franco, aged 46, wore a conventional black suit, maintaining an arm around his girlfriend Izabel Pakzad whom he’s been with since 2017. On the other hand, Izabel opted for a grey pantsuit featuring floral stitching and a ruffled neckline, tying her hair up in a bun. (Take a look at all the stars on the red carpet at SNL 50 here.)
In the 2000s and 2010s, Seth Rogen and James Franco collaborated frequently on projects like “Pineapple Express” and “The Interview”. However, Franco disclosed in the past year that Rogen has decided to end their professional relationship.
He informed Variety back in October that he hadn’t spoken with Seth. He shared, “I hold Seth dear, we spent 20 wonderful years together, but it seems our relationship has ended. Despite my best efforts, it didn’t work out. I’ve expressed to him how significant he’s been in my life.
Ultimately, Rogen explained that he chose not to collaborate with Franco after the accusations of sexual misconduct surfaced against him in 2018, claims that Franco has since disputed.
In 2021, Rogen shared with The Sunday Times that he had reflected on the 2018 interview where he expressed his intent to continue working with James. However, as of now, he hasn’t and currently doesn’t have plans to do so.
Yet, Rogen seems to be moving away from his close relationship with Franco. In an interview conducted just five days before the SNL 50, he shared with Esquire that Franco’s remarks about their friendship were not something that he had given much attention to: “I don’t consume much media, so it wasn’t really on my radar.
Eventually, Rogen explained that he chose not to collaborate with Franco after the accusations of sexual misconduct surfaced in 2018, which Franco contested.
In 2021, Rogen shared with The Sunday Times that he had indeed reflected on that 2018 interview where he mentioned continuing to work with James. However, the reality is that he hasn’t done so, and at this moment, he doesn’t have plans to do so either.
He added that the end of their professional collaboration “is not a coincidence.”
