Well, as a long-time wrestling enthusiast who’s been through the ropes of multiple pay-per-view subscriptions, I must say the news about AEW content moving to MAX streaming service sounds like music to my wallet! If it indeed happens, it would be a game-changer for fans like me who can’t always afford the hefty monthly fees. The potential to attract new audiences unfamiliar with modern wrestling is also an exciting prospect.
Over the past week, whispers have been spreading about AEW content potentially shifting to MAX streaming platform, a move that has been under discussion for some time. If this happens, pay-per-view events could become more affordable for fans who might find the current $50 monthly fee too steep. This change also opens up the possibility of attracting an entirely new audience, many of whom may be uninitiated in modern wrestling. However, no official announcements have been made yet. Interestingly, two recent AEW pay-per-view events are now available to stream on Honor Club, a subscription-based service operated by Ring of Honor. Honor Club houses a vast library of their content dating back over the years, including pay-per-views and weekly shows.
AEW Pay-Per-Views Now On Streaming
The recent events, AEW All Out from September and AEW All In in August, are now up for purchase at a flat rate of $50 each. However, it’s puzzling why these events were produced in the first place, as they didn’t contain any matches sanctioned by ROH, unlike last year’s Wembley event. AEW President Tony Khan mentioned during a press call that negotiations regarding Ring of Honor are part of the company’s ongoing rights discussions, but whether this is accurate has yet to be verified. Updates on their reported major deal are expected soon.
Khan shared during the Death Before Dishonor call in July that he has been engaging in productive talks with Warner Brothers Discovery, and it’s thrilling to note that Ring of Honor has been mentioned in these discussions. The current state of wrestling business is vibrant, and the prospect of AEW and ROH, along with AEW currently negotiating a significant media rights package, adds to the excitement. It’s promising for ROH to be included in these negotiations. We have had discussions about this, and ROH is indeed a strong brand that consistently delivers quality content weekly, as well as pay-per-view shows, historical content, and various trademark and intellectual property opportunities. At present, these conversations are ongoing, and Ring of Honor is part of the broader AEW discourse we’re having.
