Several Ubisoft games can now be purchased in the Xbox PC app, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Watch Dogs 2

On Wednesday, publisher Ubisoft announced that it’s made some of its most popular video game series available on the Xbox PC app. This means gamers can now purchase titles such as the newly-released Assassin’s Creed: Shadows directly from the platform.

As a researcher, I’ve noticed that Ubisoft has previously collaborated with PC Game Pass, yet there was an issue for PC gamers who relied on the Xbox app: the games weren’t available for purchase. This meant that those whose subscriptions expired were unable to access these games if their subscription had lapsed.

You can find all 16 Ubisoft games on the Xbox PC app below:

  • Assassin’s Creed Origins
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Far Cry 5
  • Far Cry New Dawn
  • Far Cry 6
  • Immortals Fenyx Rising
  • Riders Republic
  • South Park: The Fractured but Whole
  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands
  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint
  • Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction
  • Watch Dogs 2
  • Watch Dogs Legion

It’s worth mentioning that although these games can be purchased, they do not offer Xbox Play Anywhere functionality. This implies that buying a game through the Xbox PC app will not provide you with a corresponding version on your Xbox Series X|S, and the reverse is also true.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that these games are compatible only with Ubisoft Connect, which implies you need to connect your Xbox account with your Ubisoft account.

It’s crucial to remember a few key points, especially if, like me, you prefer a native build of a PC game from the launcher you purchase it through. Nevertheless, this move indicates that Xbox is gradually collaborating with Ubisoft to enhance the compatibility of various features across the Xbox platform as a whole.

In the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Xbox Cloud Gaming support for “Play from the Cloud” was included, enabling those who purchased the Xbox console version to stream the game directly.
