Shadows of the Damned Remaster Gets Release Date

As a longtime fan of Grasshopper Manufacture and their unique brand of quirky, action-packed games, I couldn’t be more excited for the release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. Having played the original game back in 2011, I can still remember the thrill of exploring the twisted, demon-infested underworld with Garcia Hotspur and his trusty companion, Johnson. The combination of fast-paced combat, creepy atmosphere, and a healthy dose of dark humor made for an experience that stuck with me long after I finished the game.

The remastered version of “Shadows of the Damned: Hella” by Grasshopper Manufacture, initially announced for a modern platform release over a year ago, now has a confirmed launch date. Previous updates on this project had been scarce; however, the timing for its arrival seems particularly opportune.

I’m thrilled to share that in a recent trailer, Grasshopper Manufacture revealed that “Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered” is coming our way this year on Halloween, October 31st. This updated version of “Shadows of the Damned” will mostly retain its original gameplay, but with enhanced graphics and a few new cosmetic features. The game will be available on various platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

You can get a look at Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered in its newest trailer below:

In the grungy Underworld, Garcia Hotspur and his gaunt companion, Johnson, embark on a perilous journey to rescue Paula, Garcia’s kidnapped lover, from Fleming, the malevolent ruler. The spirit of rock ‘n’ roll fuels their adventure through this warped netherworld. Navigate the intricate path ahead as you harness both light and darkness. Demons thrive in the dark but shrink back when illuminated by light. Leverage Johnson to clear your way through the Underworld’s gloom.

To put it another way, you might say: It’s worth noting that Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is not the sole remastered game from Grasshopper Manufacture set for release this year. In September, a revamped version of Lollipop Chainsaw, titled Lollipop Chains RePOP, is slated to appear on contemporary gaming platforms. However, unlike the Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered project, this updated version of Lollipop Chainsaw is not being spearheaded by Grasshopper Manufacture’s team. Instead, it’s being led by Dragami Games. Whether or not this change in leadership will impact the remaster remains to be seen, but Grasshopper fans have much to anticipate in the near future.
