The moment you find yourself standing before a colossal chasm, my heart races with anticipation, knowing that another layer of this captivating story awaits me.
The Mountain Range Quest named “Shadows of the Crystal Peaks” is divided into two interconnected stages, allowing you to finish them consecutively. Assist Titu in resolving the Shadow Pin predicament and strengthen the barrier over the Abyss during this quest. This adventure typically lasts between 30 to 40 minutes if you choose not to engage in dialogue.

How to Start Shadows of the Mountain Quest
To initiate the quest series, simply approach the character named Titu who is located close to the teleportation landing site within the Sulfurous Veins (easily identifiable on your map with a quest marker). After conversing with Titu, you’ll receive your first mission: Beneath the Crystal Rock.

Lesser Shadow Pin #1
By adhering to the given directions, you’ll eventually find a ‘Lesser Shadow Pin.’ First, encounter a Tepetlisaurus – it’s the brown dinosaur – then embark on the mission.
In this task, employ the Tepetlisaurus to dig into the ground and then unleash a regular assault (click the left mouse button) to demolish the spikes on the transparent crystals. Keep doing this until all the spikes are removed, and you’ll successfully complete the challenge.
If you encounter any molten fissures, press ‘Enter’ to take a quick route (since the Tepetlisaurus will automatically move for a short while). Remember that if you don’t manage to complete this mission quickly enough by avoiding the spikes, you’ll have to start the challenge over from the beginning.
Once the challenge has been concluded, you’ll have to vanquish the appearing adversaries to proceed with your journey further.
Lesser Shadow Pin #2
Accompany Titu on your journey and head towards the second spot of Lesser Shadow Pin. Later on, you’ll have some fun interacting with a Koholasaurus!
Initially, find yourself seated on a Tepetlisaurus, then move towards the rock marked in the picture above that appears breakable. Once you’ve shattered it, you’ll discover a Molten Fissure behind it. Proceed through the Molten Fissure to continue your journey upwards.
Continue by adhering to the indicators on the walls, and you’ll soon find yourself at the following destination. This spot houses a few Hilichurls who are busy digging in the soil.
Employ the Tepetlisaurus to tap (click with your finger) on the luminous orbs scattered on the ground, doing so will reveal a hidden treasure chest and excavate a route leading to the lower region.
Below, you’ll find a Koholasaurus residing, then proceed towards the explored region deeper within this cavern. However, an issue arises. As you approach the Glowing Inscription, the water level unexpectedly surges.
After the water stops rising, cast your gaze towards the northern direction, and there you’ll spot a door. Pass through the door and you’ll encounter a Hilichurl fiddling with a lever. Overpower the Hilichurls and manipulate the lever once more to lower the water level slightly (as the lever will become inoperable following your interaction).
After a slight drop in the water level, glance towards the direction of the southeast, and you’ll notice an entrance adorned with numerous sharp protrusions nearby.
Navigate your way to the entrance, then carefully detonate the fragile Phlogiston Crystals scattered about to create a new opening. This will allow the water to drain further down, reducing its level still more.
As you traverse the path, you’ll come across another breakable stone. Knock it down to proceed and interact with the inscription that follows. Interacting with this inscription will transport you to a Spiritway, which will then guide you to a staircase. From there, simply follow the inscription back to find your way to the Lesser Shadow Pin.
At the Lesser Shadow Pin once again, you’re faced with a fresh test! The task at hand remains similar to the last one: you must dissipate the sharp spikes from the transparent crystals by employing the standard attack of the Tepetlisaurus. However, beware! This time it’s riskier than ever, as the ground will collapse underfoot. To navigate this hazard, don’t forget to incorporate the jump action into your strategy (Press ‘Space’ on PC).
Lesser Shadow Pin #3
For the last pin, follow the quest navigation. The story will automatically start once you reach the location. But not soon after, you need to go to another place, which, once again, can be done by following the navigation.
To access the hidden area below the canyon at the second destination, you’ll have to overcome the Rifhounds and various other adversaries initially. Once you’ve done this, you’ll have completed the Beneath the Crystal Rock quest, and the Peace to the Slumbering will commence.
Peace to the Slumbering Quest
Currently, there’s a large pit in the ground visible to you. **Go ahead and descend into it.** Upon doing so, you’ll discover another Luminous Text. Continue to follow it until you reach the heart of this location.
Here, all the blocks in this location will be moving up and down. You have two options: take advantage of Mualani’s impressive surfing skills by jumping high on her board, or show some patience and let the blocks move around so you can find an opening to reach your desired destination.
To solve this puzzle, locate three distinct inscription fragments embedded within a block that exudes a distinctive purple substance. You’re welcome to employ any suitable attacks, ideally a Claymore attack, to shatter the block and retrieve the inscriptions. The fragments are highly noticeable in this area due to the purple gas emission, and the quest itself has provided markers (press V to view) for each location, making it straightforward to complete without additional guidance.
After engaging with the initial three inscriptions, a large Rifthound emerges that must be defeated first. Subsequently, you’ll find yourself trapped among blocks with no escape route. Seek assistance from your Saurian companion, navigate to its location for the correct path, and there you will discover the final inscription fragment.
Reunite with Titu near the grand monument and vanquish the foes. Following additional discussions, you’ll wrap up the mission and receive the achievement “Ancestral Recall”.
