Shannen Doherty Dead at 53: 90210 Costars Pay Tribute

Shannen Doherty, who gained fame for her role as Brenda Walsh in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” has passed away at the age of 48 after a battle with cancer. Many celebrities have taken to social media to express their condolences and share their memories of the late actress.

Shannen Doherty‘s Beverly Hills, 90210 family is mourning the loss of their former costar.

Following the sad news of her death at the age of 53 on July 14, many former co-stars from the popular ’90s drama series took to social media to reminisce and pay tribute to the actress, who had bravely fought cancer for an extended period before passing away.

In a nostalgic post, Jason Priestley, the actor who portrayed Brenda Walsh’s twin brother Brandon Walsh on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” shared a picture of them both on set during the filming of the 1993 high school graduation episode.

“I’m deeply distressed to learn that my dear friend Shannen has passed away at the age of 54. Her vibrant energy will be sorely missed by me. My thoughts and sympathies are with her loved ones during this difficult period.”

Gabrielle Carteris, aged 63, who portrayed Andrea Zuckerman on “90210,” paid tribute to Shannon on Instagram, expressing, “You were far too young for this world – so sad. Rest in peace, dear Shannon. I believe Luke is waiting with open arms to welcome you.”

The previous head of SAG-AFTRA union mentions Luke Perry, known for portraying Brenda’s primary romantic interest on the screen. Sadly, he passed away in 2019 at the age of 52 following a stroke.

Shannen continued to maintain friendships with several of her “Beverly Hills, 90210” co-stars following her departure from the series in 1994 after completing the initial four seasons.

I had the pleasure of inviting a few individuals as guests on my podcast last year, and we even got together at fan conventions. Additionally, I was part of the cast for the brief revival of “BH90210” in 2019, where we produced a mockumentary series.

In July last year, Shannen and Ian Ziering (the actor portraying Steve Sanders) were among the guests at Brian Austin Green’s (David Silver’s character in the show) fifty-first birthday celebration. They had a romantic history off-screen as well.

Brian Austin Green, who had a short-lived romance with Shannen in reality, paid homage to the late actress through his own heartfelt tribute following the news of her passing.

“My dear sister Shan, on Instagram I expressed my feelings for you. Your unwavering love was a significant influence in my own understanding of this emotion. I’m finding it hard to comprehend the depth of my grief right now. Thank you for sharing your love with me.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’m deeply dismayed and mournful upon learning about the tragic demise of my dear friend Shannen. Known for her portrayal of Brandon Walsh, the twin sibling of Brenda Walsh on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” she left an indelible mark on both the industry and those fortunate enough to know her. Shan: My dear sister, you’ve been by my side through thick and thin on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210, and in real life. Your love has significantly shaped my own understanding of this powerful emotion. I cannot express how deeply I will miss you at this moment. Thank you for the priceless gift of your presence in my life.

“Such a young life filled with sadness,” wrote the former SAG-AFTRA president and actor from ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ on Instagram. “Rest in peace, Shannon. I believe Luke is waiting for you with open arms to shower you with love.”

I once took on the role of replacing Shannen Doherty in “Charmed” back in 2001 when she left the show. In response to her last Instagram post, I commented, “You displayed the courage and strength of a true lioness. Rest in peace, your loving father is now embracing his brave girl.”

She went on to express, “Love to your mom, your devoted dog, and everyone who cherishes you deeply. Love to Holly (Marie Combs). Love to all of your countless fans whom you reciprocated that love. If anyone defied death with a resolute no, it was you, Shannen. In respect and admiration, I pay tribute to the brave one. Everlasting love.”

The actor, who portrayed Leo Wyatt on “Charmed,” expressed on Instagram, “You demonstrated what true strength looks like to me. You instilled in me the courage to face fears and live with meaning. Recognizing self-worth and remaining steadfast in convictions are lessons I will forever cherish.”

“Forever loved!” he added. “Truly heartbroken.”

“I’m deeply saddened by Shannen Doherty’s death. When I received my own breast cancer diagnosis, I recalled how bravely she shared her journey with the world. Our friendship developed from that instant connection, which I found surprising at times since she was a beloved figure on ‘90210’ for me as a 10-year-old.”

She and I formed a strong connection over our mutual experience and compassion to assist other women. Reflecting on our last conversation a few months prior, she expressed concern for my wellbeing and offered her assistance – a characteristic act of kindness from Shannen, despite being in the late stages of her own devastating battle with illness.

Olivia ended her heartfelt tribute to her deceased friend with these poignant words: “Cancer is truly terrifying, but Shannen bravely fought it with dignity, strength, and grace. I extend my deepest sympathies to her mother, who was not only a dear friend, but also a hero and unwavering source of support for Shannen throughout her journey. May your wings carry you high, my cherished friend.”

As a devoted admirer and fellow fighter, I want to express my gratitude for your recent Instagram post, Shannen. Your courage in the face of multiple sclerosis is truly inspiring. You’ve shown us all how to persevere through life’s challenges with grace and resilience. Keep shining, rebel heart.

“I love you,” the actress commented on Shannen’s latest Instagram post. “May you soar high, beautiful, brave, and kind soul. This is painful news. Your heart, courage, and kindness will be deeply missed.”

The Oscar winner expressed on Instagram that the courage with which you shared your Cancer experience touched people deeply. May you find peace. God bless your dear ones.
