The documents from the court, obtained by the media outlet, revealed that Shannen and her attorney Laura Wasser were in the process of finalizing the details just before Shannen’s death. According to the agreement, Shannen was set to retain the Malibu house, a Salvador Dali painting, several cars, and all income generated from her acting career.
On July 15, two days following her demise, a judge granted the divorce settlement between Kurt and Shannen, who lacked children, and made it legally binding.
The parties’ mutual agreement over their property and domestic partnership rights, as documented in the court filings, was described as an uncontested case by all involved parties, according to TopMob News.)
Shannen, who received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2015 that later spread to her brain and bones in 2020, filed for divorce from Kurt in April 2023, ending their 11-year marriage. Court documents obtained in June revealed Shannen’s accusation that Kurt was intentionally delaying the divorce process to ensure she would pass away before he became obligated to pay spousal support as her photographer.
In the documents, Shannen expressed her disagreement with Kurt’s desire to delay our divorce proceedings, writing, “It’s unfair that Kurt gets to go on living while I’m expected to wait for his turn to pay me out, despite being his wife for over a decade and facing my own mortality.”
Kurt’s legal representative countered the allegation by stating that before, in October, they had proposed a settlement agreement to Shannen. Their hope was that, should she accept, they could both leave the lawsuit in the past and progress forward.
Lately, the podcast host has been pondering over how her perspective on marriage has shifted since their separation.
Shannen shared on her podcast “Let’s Be Clear” in April that she holds marriage in high regard, having been married to Ashley Hamilton and Rick Salomon before. However, she added that her past painful marriage experience taught her that a marriage certificate alone lacks significant meaning.
