Shannen Doherty’s Rep Calls Out In Memoriam Snub at Oscars 2025

Shannen Doherty‘s loved ones want to see her legacy live on.

Following her omission from the In Memoriam segment during the 2025 Oscars, which honors individuals from the film industry who have recently passed away, a former representative for the actress from Beverly Hills, 90210 (who died in July at age 59) expressed their views on her exclusion from the tribute.

Actually, Shannen’s representative informed TMZ on March 3rd that it was truly disheartening for her not to be recognized during the event, which was conducted by Conan O’Brien.

Besides Shannen’s close associates, many others were displeased that she wasn’t included in the In Memoriam segment of the award show, which paid tribute to renowned figures from Hollywood such as Gene Hackman, David Lynch, Jeff Baena, Maggie Smith, Bob Newhart, and Donald Sutherland this year.

Supporters of the late actress voiced their disappointment that her significant contributions to entertainment, spanning TV series like “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed,” as well as films such as “Heathers” and “Mallrats,” were not adequately recognized during the March 2 broadcast. They felt she deserved more recognition for her impressive career that extended over several decades.

On March 2, a user expressed dismay by saying, “It’s unbelievable that Shannen Doherty—a trailblazing actress known for her role in HEATHERS—was not included in the In Memoriam segment. She was a pioneer, speaking up for herself and expressing her own opinions during a time when women in Hollywood were often expected to remain silent.

Another person commented, “Learning that the #Oscar didn’t acknowledge Shannen Doherty felt like a hard blow to me. There were so many others overlooked as well. However, she remains an unbeatable victor in my mind and heart.

Shannen, alongside Michelle Trachtenberg, Tony Todd, Bernard Hill, and Morgan Spurlock, were conspicuously absent from the In Memoriam segment during the Academy Awards. Fans noticed that these notable figures were omitted from the tribute.

Although Shannen didn’t receive an Oscar honor, she was fondly remembered during the emotional In Memoriam segments at this year’s Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Furthermore, many of her former co-stars have publicly honored the late star from Charmed since her unexpected demise.

On Instagram, her fellow cast member from Beverly Hills, 90210, Jennie Garth, shared that their bond was genuine and sincere. They were frequently portrayed as being in competition, but this didn’t reflect the authentic nature of their relationship, which was founded on mutual respect and appreciation.

Characterizing Shannen as bold, fervent, steadfast, and incredibly kind and giving, she expressed, “Her absence will be felt deeply within me, and I’ll cherish her forever in my heart and my recollections.
