ITV has officially revealed its lineup for the summer months, and among the offerings is a remake that might look familiar to certain television spectators.
As a cinephile, I can’t contain my excitement! Last year, CJ Sansom’s intriguing character Shardlake was brilliantly brought to life on Disney Plus. Now, starting from Monday, 9th June, these captivating episodes will be gracing our screens once more, this time on ITV1. Can’t wait!
This production showcases an outstanding ensemble with Sean Bean portraying Thomas Cromwell and Arthur Hughes as the 16th-century attorney, Matthew Shardlake, who is assigned to probe a murder mystery within a monastery.
Besides being on his own, there’s also the presence of Jack Barak (Anthony Boyle), who seems quite confident and could potentially be a spy for Cromwell, to assist him.
A tense mystery unfolds across four episodes, with ITV set to air them weekly.
In January 2025, Variety announced that the series would not be renewed by Disney Plus, even though there are numerous CJ Sansom books left to adapt and it had received positive feedback, including a four-star review from us.
Perhaps they’ll get their chance on ITV.
