A TikTok video posted by a fan on October 19 showcased the new song’s performance, where Shawn appears to address rumors concerning his sexuality and other comments about himself.

In the video, Shawn plays his guitar and sings the words “I’ve had a shift in feelings,” followed by “Feel free to express yourself,” then “You might say I’m still young,” “You might say I’m past my prime,” “You might label me as liking girls or boys,” “Whatever stereotype you prefer.

As Shawn sings the lyric, the crowd begins to cheer in support.

I yearned to express support, to say, “I may not be gay, but if I were, it would be acceptable—yet, there’s nothing wrong with being gay in the first place.” However, I found myself at a loss for the right words to navigate this sensitive situation.

Ever since Shawn became well-known as a teenager, his romantic life has garnered significant interest from the public. For instance, his tumultuous four-year relationship with Camila Cabello – which finally came to an end permanently in 2023.

Despite their high-profile split, the artist behind “Stitches” emphasized the significance of maintaining a strong friendship with Camila.
