She-Hulk Star Wants in on Daredevil’s Gritty Reboot, But Marvel Isn’t Having It

Actress Tatiana Maslany, known for her role as She-Hulk, has recently voiced her interest in becoming part of the cast for the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again.

Anticipation for “Daredevil: Born Again,” premiering on Disney+ on March 4th, is at an all-time high due to Marvel’s return to realistic and gripping storytelling. The trailer has already caused a stir, garnering 15 million views, 582,000 likes, and just 3,800 dislikes – far surpassing the response to recent Marvel series like “Echo” and “Agatha All Along,” which failed to capture viewer attention. Now, She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany has shown interest in appearing in the upcoming “Daredevil” series.

And fans? Well, they’re not exactly thrilled.

Fans were disappointed by the lighthearted and questionably written tone of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” which included an awkward twerking scene featuring Megan Thee Stallion. This reaction led to a quick and forceful response from Disney+, as they took She-Hulk off the Marvel banner, signaling that the studio may be ready to focus on other projects. Currently, there are no plans for a second season, implying that the MCU is moving forward without Jennifer Walters.

This refusal aligns with Marvel’s recent change in direction, as demonstrated by the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again“. Unlike shows like “She-Hulk” and “Echo“, which focus on identity politics and lighter tones, “Born Again” is set to revert back to the more serious, gritty storytelling that characterized the original Netflix “Daredevil” series. The trailer for “Born Devil: Born Again” sets this tone with intense action scenes, such as a striking moment where Daredevil snaps an opponent’s leg. The TV-MA rating of the show also underscores its dedication to mature themes and violence, a demand that fans have expressed during Marvel’s identity-politics saturation.

Dario Scardapane, who’s in charge of the show “Daredevil: Born Again,” has decided to distance himself from any ties related to She-Hulk. In a recent conversation, he made it clear that “Born Again” will not reference or incorporate any elements from “She-Hulk,” including the controversial one-night stand between Daredevil and Jennifer Walters.

In simpler terms, Scardapane clearly said that certain occurrences are not their priority, and he feels he has enough freedom to concentrate on a version of Daredevil that matches fan anticipations instead of being influenced by mistakes in the recent Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The difference between “Daredevil: Born Again” and “She-Hulk” could not be more distinct. Whilst “She-Hulk” relies heavily on witty humor that breaks the fourth wall and lighthearted commentary, “Born Again” is focusing intensely on deep, character-centric narratives. With “Echo” and “Agatha All Along” not hitting their mark, it seems Marvel has finally grasped that viewers crave authentic stories, genuine conflicts, and true heroes – not mere tricks or cheap jokes.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I can’t help but acknowledge the anticipation in the air as we seem to be moving on from the turbulent chapter of She-Hulk, starring Tatiana Maslany. Marvel Studios and us, the passionate fans, appear ready to put this experience behind us.
