She Went For a Haircut, Left With a Life-Changing Diagnosis!

My skin is generally in good shape, but it’s had its ups and downs. To be honest, I feel like my skin has been on a significant journey. I’ve tried various methods, including Accutane, and have gained a wealth of knowledge about chemical exfoliants and repairing the skin’s moisture barrier. In essence, I’ve put in the effort. What’s truly made a difference for me is getting diagnosed with PCOS and being prescribed medication that helps my body maintain hormonal balance.

I discovered I had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) during a visit to the hair salon. While getting my hair washed, a woman sitting beside me casually asked if I had PCOS. Since my mother has both PCOS and endometriosis and has faced numerous difficulties, I wasn’t sure. The woman then suggested that I might have PCOS, as she noticed the acne on my cheeks. It turned out that she was an OBGYN and she confirmed my diagnosis of PCOS. This revelation has significantly impacted my life – my periods are now more manageable, my skin is less unpredictable, and my hair is growing thicker. I feel like I’m reclaiming myself in a sense.

One trip to the hair salon changed Emma Chamberlain‘s life forever.

More recently, the YouTube personality shared a memory about entering a medical facility where they were diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a common hormonal condition in women of reproductive years, that provided an explanation for her persistent acne issues.

In an interview with Vogue, a 23-year-old shared that they were diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in an unexpected setting. While getting their hair washed at the salon, a stranger sitting nearby asked if they had PCOS. The individual wasn’t sure, as their mother has both PCOS and endometriosis and has faced numerous challenges. The stranger then suggested that they might have PCOS themselves.

Emma went on discussing the event that happened over a year back, “I noticed it was her profession as an OBGYN when I observed the acne on my face. She ended up diagnosing me with PCOS, and honestly, it has significantly impacted my life.

After receiving a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which can lead to irregular periods, infertility, ovarian cysts, and hair loss, the influencer was prescribed medication to balance her hormones. She shared that this treatment has had a greater impact on improving her skin condition than any other remedy she’s used so far. Furthermore, she noted additional benefits from this medication.

She remarked, “My menstrual cycles have become much more relaxed.” Also, my skin has become more consistent and reliable. Moreover, my hair seems to be growing denser. It feels like I’m regaining my normal self in many ways.

Emma revealed her Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis last year. She explained on the March 2024 episode of her podcast Anything Goes that she had been experiencing irregular periods, cystic acne, anxiety, and depression for many years, which she now understands were related to this condition. Additionally, there’s a possibility it may affect her fertility, which she finds upsetting. In short, it’s definitely not great news for her.

Speaking from personal experience, many women I know share similar health challenges, including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). While my case might be milder and I may not exhibit all the typical characteristics, I believe I fall within this category. I don’t have visible ovarian cysts, but the symptoms align in a way that suggests PCOS for me.

Emma mentioned that it was slightly less daunting for her as her mother, who has Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), was still capable of conceiving.

She expressed that she expects to be able to conceive children around six to eight years from now, saying something like, “I should be ready to have kids by then.

As someone who advocates for holistic well-being, I’ve learned that my body isn’t always perfect. It experiences fluctuations in its state of health, much like the ebb and flow of tides. Sometimes, it’s as smooth sailing as a calm sea, while other times, it’s as turbulent as rough waters. But I’ve come to accept these imperfections, recognizing that they are part of the unique tapestry that makes up my health journey.

Previously part of Bachelor Nation, this individual disclosed he had to visit the hospital because of intense back pain, which made him crawl on his hands and knees. This distressing condition worsened while embarking on an RV journey alongside a companion.

In the March 2025 edition of his “Trading Secrets” podcast, he remarked, “I’m feeling quite tingly from my knees down, which is unexpected.” To give you an idea, around two to four weeks ago, or perhaps even a month ago, I was squatting about 295 pounds. Now, I can barely do a single-leg squat without falling – it’s as if I’ve had a minor stroke or something similar.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In a hockey game in December 2024, a player from the AHL had his skin sewn up with 25 stitches due to an accident involving another player’s skate. Later, when the son was completely healed, Tom Fitzgerald, general manager of the New Jersey Devils, expressed his gratitude to ESPN, stating, “We were incredibly fortunate. I wouldn’t want that happening to any other parent.

30 Rock’s main actor experienced a health emergency during a New York Knicks basketball match in March 2025, causing him to be transported from Madison Square Garden in a stretcher.

On the next day, the comedian posted an update on social media, explaining it was a bout of food poisoning and he was recovering well.

In February 2025, an actress who once starred in “Even Stevens” revealed that she had been accidentally shot in the face during a trip where they were celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday by shooting clay pigeons.

In a post on Instagram, she shared that there was another person with us who accidentally fired their gun in the wrong direction, striking me in the face. Quickly, @thebrendanrooney took action, evaluated my injuries, and hurried me to the hospital. I was wounded in five spots, one of which was just a fraction of an inch away from hitting me right in the eye.

The former Kim Possible cast member went on to say, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck near my eye, and it’s not safe for surgery right now. The doctors are going to keep an eye on me instead (my vision is fine as of now).

As a heartfelt believer in the preciousness of life, I’d like to share a profound realization that recently struck me: I am incredibly grateful for each moment I’ve been given. My daughters, my husband, my family, and friends – their presence fills my world with love beyond words. A harrowing experience made me see a glimpse of my life’s journey in an instant, and it underscored the importance of cherishing every opportunity to embrace those dear to me. So, I implore you, seize any chance you have to give your loved ones a hug. Life, as we know it, can change in the blink of an eye.

Despite the internet often being unkind, Amy Schumer is grateful that it assisted her in obtaining answers during a challenging time. In an episode of Call Her Daddy from January 2025, she remembered the online response following a series of interviews as, “Everybody relax, OK,” but then noted doctors weighing in with concerns about her appearance and potential health issues. They suggested she might have Cushing syndrome, caused by elevated cortisol levels or steroid injections.

As it turned out, Amy had been receiving steroid injections for scars from a breast reduction and C-section. Upon realizing this connection, she thought, “I’ve been trolled by doctors?” After the medical professionals’ comments, she was able to identify the cause of her symptoms, which led to a diagnosis of Cushing syndrome.

Now, Amy is just relieved that she’s healthy, as she shared in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Learning I have a form of Cushing’s that will resolve itself and leaves me healthy was the best news imaginable.

Hailey Bieber experienced one of her most terrifying moments in life during breakfast with husband Justin Bieber in March 2022, when she suddenly started exhibiting symptoms similar to a stroke. As she struggled to respond to Justin’s concerns, she found herself unable to speak and experiencing drooping on the right side of her face.

After some time, Hailey managed to regain her speech, but quickly realized the importance of seeking medical attention. At the hospital, doctors discovered a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA).

Further examination at the University of California, Los Angeles, revealed that Hailey had a hole in her heart called patent foramen ovale (PFO). The doctors explained that the blood clot had traveled through this hole from her heart, escaped into her brain, and caused the TIA.

Hailey underwent a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now feeling well.

During the same year Hailey went through her health crisis, Justin also encountered one of his own. Specifically, in 2022, the “Baby” singer revealed he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that temporarily affected certain facial muscles and led him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour. In an Instagram video, Justin explained, “This virus attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves, causing paralysis on this side of my face.” As you can see, he couldn’t blink one eye or smile on that side, and his nostril wouldn’t move, resulting in full paralysis. He even mentioned it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to eat. However, the paralysis eventually subsided. Hailey commented on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America, stating, “He’s doing really well… He’s feeling a lot better now.” She added that although it was a frightening and unexpected situation, Justin would make a full recovery, and she was grateful for his health.

Jamie Foxx initially chose not to disclose the details of his hospitalization in April 2023, but later shared his experience. In Atlanta, he experienced a severe headache and asked for an aspirin, but before he could get it, he fainted and lost consciousness for approximately 20 days.

Initially examined by a doctor who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, his sister, Deidra Dixon, then took him to a hospital where they discovered he had suffered a brain bleed, leading to a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 20th day, Foxx woke up on May 4 in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He subsequently traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

“All I can say is that I am grateful for every prayer,” he said, “because I needed every one of them.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, penned an essay entitled “A Battle for My Life” in 2019. In the piece, she described an incident at the gym where a severe headache led to vomiting and increasing pain. She believed her brain was injured.

Upon hospitalization, she was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a potentially fatal type of stroke caused by bleeding in the space surrounding the brain. The Emmy-nominated actress underwent immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm, describing the pain as unbearable. During recovery, she experienced aphasia and spoke nonsensically.

A week later, her aphasia subsided, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month-long stay. However, in 2013, a growth was discovered during a brain scan that had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery. She recalled waking up after the procedure with excruciating pain, as the operation had failed and she faced precarious odds for survival due to a massive bleed.

Fortunately, Emilia is now reportedly in good health and at 100%.

Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family due to their support during her health crisis in 2024. After suffering a severe stroke in January, her loved ones promptly rallied around her. “I informed them that I had a stroke and sent them a picture,” she shared with TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi in December of the same year. “Everyone came to my aid.”

Due to additional health complications, Cori’s hospital stay extended beyond what she initially anticipated. “I could have been discharged after my stroke,” she continued from her role in ‘Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story’. “However, my lupus wasn’t responding well, and my kidneys were failing. There was a lot happening.”

Now, Cori is on the road to recovery. “I’m doing well,” she added. “I just needed to work on regaining some motor skills, but otherwise I was fine.

Shailene Woodley faced numerous health challenges during her twenties, with symptoms ranging from hearing loss to stomach issues and fatigue. In an interview on the SHE MD Podcast in September 2024, she described this period as a “conflation of issues” and “different diagnoses,” with various doctors offering conflicting advice.

Despite keeping her specific condition private, Shailene sought solutions by combining conventional medical treatment with alternative holistic approaches. As someone with a background in herbalism, she worked with both traditional doctors and independent healers to find relief. This journey spanned over ten years.

During this decade-long struggle, Shailene also grappled with the psychological effects of her physical discomfort. She developed a fear of food, which led to body dysmorphia, confusion about identity, and feelings of insecurity and uncertainty regarding her own self and safety.

However, after addressing both her physical and mental health concerns, Shailene is now feeling much improved and in good health. She expressed gratitude for having overcome this challenging phase.
