Sheinelle Jones: Today Show Colleagues Send Love and Prayers

Sheinelle Jones’ colleagues are sending her love from afar.

In the ongoing absence of our regular cohost, Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Al Roker recently provided an update to the audience, with Craig mentioning that he’s had a recent conversation with her.

He mentioned that they spoke to her a few days prior – she’s currently spending time with her family and we frequently communicate with her, he shared during the April 11 episode of Today. “We adore our girl. It’s heartening to observe how many others appreciate her as well.

Dylan, meanwhile, confirmed Sheinelle would eventually return to Rockefeller Center.

The 43-year-old remarked, ‘I really feel her absence as I wish she could be here with us. However, she’s attending to her necessary responsibilities.’

To which Al added, “We’re just praying for her.”

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Today and Sheinelle for comment but has not heard back.

The update arrives three months following Sheinelle’s departure from the NBC Morning Show, as announced via her social media posts in December.

On January 15, she wrote: “Hello everyone…I want to express my gratitude for those who contacted me during my absence from the show. I’m taking some time to handle a family health issue. It doesn’t go unnoticed that I have the support of my Today Show team and also all of you. Your compassion moves me deeply. I’ll be back soon.

At one point, the 46-year-old’s sentiments were repeated on-air by Craig and Savannah Guthrie. They expressed, “Many of you have been inquiring about Sheinelle and feeling her absence, and so are we.

Sheinelle has long been an important part of the Today Show family.

When I learned that I’d be taking on the co-anchor role after Hoda Kotb’s departure, I couldn’t help but express the invaluable support Sheinelle has provided me throughout this journey. Her encouragement has been instrumental to my success in this role.

During a recent show in November, Craig told his fellow host, “We had a wonderful discussion yesterday that I truly appreciated, and you suggested, ‘Just let it come to you today’.

As I mentioned a few weeks past, among all the professionals I’ve collaborated with throughout my career so far, none has been by my side for as long as you have.

Since the year 2003, the host of “Sunday Today” has been happily married to his wife Christina. Together they are proud parents to their two kids, George William Geist and Lucie Joy Geist.
