SHETLAND SEASON 10: NEW CAST JOINS THE RANKS

Confirmation has been made by the BBC that filming for Shetland’s tenth season has commenced, as the main actors return to the wet islands along with some fresh talents joining the crew.

In a new development for the series, Ashley Jensen reappears as Detective Inspector Ruth Calder, stepping into the role previously held by Douglas Henshall’s Jimmy Perez who departed in season 7. Accompanying her is the reliable Detective Inspector Tosh, portrayed by Alison O’Donnell.

The duo will be accompanied by recurring actors such as Steven Robertson (DC Sandy Wilson), Lewis Howden (Sgt Billy McCabe), Anne Kidd (pathologist Cora McLean), Angus Miller (Donnie, Tosh’s partner), Conor McCarry (PC Alex Grant), and Eubha Akilade (PC Lorna Burns). Additionally, some well-known guest stars will make appearances.

Included in the group are Clive Russell, known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Sandman, as well as Shetland season 2 storyline participant; Ellie Haddington from Motherland; Niall MacGregor, who appeared in Line of Duty; Guilt’s Greg McHugh; and Frances Gray, a cast member of Vera.

In the heart of a mysterious old lady’s murder investigation, a fresh prosecutor has arrived to assist the team in solving the case. This newcomer is Matthew Blake, portrayed by actor Samuel Anderson (best known for Amandaland and Back to Black).

Gaynor Holmes, a commissioning editor at the BBC, stated that after ten seasons, the show “Shetland” remains robust and cherished not only by viewers within the United Kingdom but also globally.

We can’t wait to watch the amazing Silverprint creative team, along with their gifted actors and production staff, return to set to film a fresh, intense, and moving murder mystery.

As Kate Bartlett, the executive producer at Silverprint Pictures, I can hardly contain my enthusiasm for our upcoming season of Shetland, starring the talented duo Ashley and Alison, along with our cherished recurring actors, and an exceptional lineup of guest stars.

Paul Logue crafted a unique and deeply emotional tale, backdropped by the breathtaking and atmospheric scenery of the Shetland Islands.
