Shocking Confession: Brian Laundrie’s Disturbing Account of Gabby Petito’s Death Revealed!

Warning: This story discusses suicide and murder.

Brian Laundrie’s account of Gabby Petito’s 2021 death has been revealed.

In the Netflix documentary titled “American Murder: Gabby Petito“, which debuted on February 17, a letter penned by Laundrie revealed his account of the incident, describing it as an “unforeseen tragedy” where he confessed to taking his fiancée’s life during their cross-country road trip.

In a hurry, he made his way towards the car, attempting to get across the flowing waterways,” he recorded, as per the document. “There was a sudden noise of a splash and a cry that echoed. His vision was blurry.

23-year-old Laundrie later claimed that the van life influencer was “struggling to breathe” and “extremely cold” when he encountered her.

As I rescued Gabby from the water, she was unable to explain where it hurt,” he went on. “During our journey, she kept letting out cries of discomfort.

After that, Laundrie portrayed the 22-year-old as pleading for relief from her suffering. However, although he believed it was compassionate, he immediately doubted his decision to take her life.

In his note, he mused, “As soon as I made up my mind to alleviate her suffering, I realized that I could no longer live without her.

Brian Laundrie came back to Florida in September 2021 without Gabby Petito, and he vanished shortly after the FBI initiated an investigation into her disappearance. Following the discovery of her remains in Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wyoming, his body was found at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in Florida. Later on, authorities confirmed that Laundrie took his own life.

In a letter found near his remains, Laundrie expressed that he had taken his own life at the creekside, hoping that wildlife would dispose of his body.

The manner in which Gabby Petito died was determined to be a homicide, specifically through manual strangulation combined with blows to her head and neck. Brian Laundrie’s account of what happened prior to her death only deepened the enigma surrounding her passing for those who care about her.

In the series, Jim Schmidt explained that it became clear to us then that we would never come anywhere near the answers we were hoping for, as the two individuals who had all the information regarding the incident have unfortunately passed away.

In Netflix’s ‘American Murder: Gabby Petito’, Nichole Schmidt, Gabby Petito’s mom, mentioned that Brian Laundrie appeared to be somewhat shy in social situations but was always quite courteous.

Jim Schmidt remarked that it was rather peaceful, but Joe Petito countered by saying that Brian had shaken his hand firmly and met his gaze.

Gabby and Brian reconnected post-high school – it was love at first sight, as he’d often share with friends about the instant he spotted her outside a deli and swerved to engage her in conversation; shortly thereafter, within just eight months of dating, she relocated to Florida with him to be near his family, which happened in December 2019.

In Florida, Gabby’s acquaintance, Rose Davis, shared that spending time with both her and Brian for the first time felt akin to having a parent watch over during a play date, finding it quite unusual. Brian was described as being very polite, but Rose recalled discussing her unease with her mother afterwards, expressing that something seemed amiss about him.

As our friendship grew, it became increasingly evident to me, Rose explained, that Brian had a rather ominous aspect to his personality.

In July 2020, Brian put forth a proposal. Nicole learned that Gabby was engaged when Roberta Laundrie, Brian’s mother, posted about it on Facebook.

“She didn’t want to tell anybody,” Nichole said. “I thought that was really strange.”

Gabby’s stepmother, Tara Petito, expressed a slight shock that Brian didn’t consult with Joe before proposing to their daughter.

Initially, Gabby was brimming with joy and enthusiasm. However, over the course of time, her initial excitement seemed to wane, according to Nicole.

Gabby cherished her time at Taco Bell, a job she held to finance her treasured white 2012 Ford Transit Connect van. However, according to Rose, Brian began to feel overlooked and developed a sense of ownership towards Gabby.

Through the text conversations displayed in the show, he criticized her occupation and referred to those she worked with as “degraded individuals.” He wrote that it was “extremely appalling” for her to have associated herself with such people.

In simpler terms, she stated that he intentionally made her feel guilty for hurting him, which led her to believe that she didn’t deserve Brian’s affection. This is what Rose meant when she said, “and he aimed to make her feel that way.

Rose remarked, “I believe there was a point in her life before she embarked on her van journey when she began to truly awaken.” Gabby grew increasingly “perplexed,” as if everything was finally becoming clearer and falling into place.

Even though the footage showed Brian appearing friendly, it was clear that he maintained a pleasant demeanor during their #VanLife journey which began in July 2021.

To be completely honest, I was utterly captivated by the fact that, as far as he was concerned, his fiancée’s dreams were secondary; he merely tagged along to savor the joy of having her entirely to himself.

According to Rose, if he manages to free her from her job, it means he’s the only one left for her. Then, before long, she was no longer there.

Gabby shared with Rose that Brian found her proposed vlog concept to be “foolish”. However, she also noted, “Perhaps he was concerned about the truth being captured on camera. After all, there’s a chance he might say something inappropriate or react incorrectly while you’re filming.

On August 12, 2021, an eyewitness dialed 911 to share that they observed a man striking a woman by the roadside in Moab, Utah. Following this violent act, they got into a vehicle and, upon leaving, the van they were traveling in collided with a curb.

Footage captured by police body cameras during their interaction with Brian and Gabby on that particular day was shown several weeks afterward, as part of the ongoing inquiry concerning Gabby’s outcome.

However, it’s surprising to note that Gabby appears to accept accountability for the physical altercation, explaining to the officers that she was suffering from high anxiety and severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She further stated that Brian was causing her stress, but he had been attempting to soothe her.

Brian explained to the police that he had scrapes on his face because he was attempting to keep Gabby at bay while she was reaching for the van keys.

When an officer inquired about the bruises on Gabby’s face and arm, she repeatedly responded, “I’m not sure.” However, she later explained to the authorities that she had argued with him, and added, “It seems I may have struck him first.

According to the video evidence, one officer communicated to another that “it appears she’s the primary instigator in this situation.

After that, an officer guided Brian towards a local hotel recognized as a sanctuary for those suffering from domestic violence. Meanwhile, they handed Gabby the van keys and instructed her on a location where she could find a budget-friendly shower facility, intended to help her relax and unwind slightly.

Instead of communicating with each other for a while, they were instructed to avoid contact, even through text messages, until the following day. However, against expectations, they met up again that very evening and promptly set off towards Salt Lake City.

In the show, Rose mentioned, “I wasn’t informed about their argument in Moab,” but I’ve observed Gabby display such distress before, and it was usually due to him.

In the show, Gabby’s mother, Nichole, described her emotions upon seeing the 911 call and police footage for the first time in September. She said, “I saw my daughter looking terrified beyond belief. That was when I understood that things were much more serious than I had ever thought possible.

Furthermore, “noticing my daughter’s distress and officers seemingly jesting with Brian,” Nichole added, “left me utterly shocked, as it seemed she was being unfairly labeled as the aggressor.

Gabby’s former partner, Jackson (last name not mentioned), revealed in the series that she contacted him unexpectedly on August 22, 2021. They had been dating for roughly a year before she began seeing Brian, he pointed out. Earlier, they had discussed embarking on a #VanLife journey together. Thus, when he learned about her adventure with Brian, he felt a touch of nostalgia, but also joy for her success.

She expressed that you probably wouldn’t want to hear from her at this moment, and mentioned that she would be alone until tomorrow, suggesting a possible conversation prior to that time.

He later considered her reaching out “a cry for help.”

According to Jackson’s memory, Gabby implied during their phone call that she and Brian had a disagreement. She also mentioned to him that she was contemplating leaving Brian, and was merely deciding on the appropriate timing for doing so.

According to Jackson, she seemed uncertain about his actions or capabilities. It appeared as though she wanted to leave, but lacked the means to do so effectively.

As I strolled through the breathtaking landscapes of Jackson Hole, Wyoming on August 27th, a familiar memory stirred within me, reminiscent of someone very special to me. I took to Snapchat to share this nostalgic moment, subtly hinting at our past. Later that same day, at precisely 1:45 p.m., I received a call from him, but alas, I was engrossed in my work and couldn’t take the call. Regrettably, that was the last communication we exchanged.

He mused, “Perhaps had I answered the phone, I might have offered assistance or perhaps things would have turned out differently.

On August 27th, Gabby messaged her mom: “I’m good. I managed to persuade Brian to go camping in the woods so I can have the van all to myself. It turns out that’s exactly what he wanted to do. Honestly, I don’t mind. He agreed I could keep the van if I paid him for it.

Gabby clarified that she was simply expressing her potential to earn more income by living independently in a van as a woman. She mentioned she was on her way to a camping spot at the moment.

Unanswered messages continued to pile up for Gabby. On August 30th, Nichole received a text from Gabby’s phone that she found peculiar because it used her father-in-law’s name, Stan, instead of the usual term of endearment, “grandpa.

Since then, Nicole has not received any message from Gabby. On September 10, she texted Brian’s mother, Roberta, but didn’t get a response. When she tried again, she noticed the chat bubble had changed from blue to green, which usually means either Roberta’s phone was turned off or Nicole might have been blocked.

In the series, Gabby’s father, Joe, made attempts to reach out to Roberta and Brian’s father, Chris Laundrie, as well as his sister Cassie Laundrie, but was unsuccessful in doing so. He stated that when he texted them, they were contacting the police instead.

TopMob News attempted to get a response from the Laundries’ legal representative, but received no reply. In their series, it was indicated that they refused to offer a comment through their attorney at that time. (Meanwhile, Cassie had informed reporters that she and her spouse were receiving updates about the case from news outlets and remained unaware of the current situation involving her parents or brother. “We are just as distressed, aggravated, and heartbroken as everyone else,” she stated.)

On September 11th, the police officers from North Port, Florida, visited Roberta and Chris’ residence to inquire if they knew anything about Gabby’s location.

In the body camera recording, Chris informed the officers that Brian was present at the location. He did not offer any additional comments, and suggested they contact the family’s legal representative instead.

Based on the video and audio evidence, authorities in North Port and Suffolk County, where Gabby’s family resided, found themselves unsure of their next steps, as they still lacked concrete evidence suggesting a crime had taken place.

However, since the vehicle Brian and Gabby had been using was parked in the Laundry’s driveway, and as Gabby’s name was the sole owner on the title, the authorities swiftly towed it away.

Upon discovering these facts, Nicole remembered from the series that her body wouldn’t stop trembling, and she sensed that something terrible had occurred.

Added Gabby’s dad Joe, “We started screaming.” Stepmom Tara said, “I collapsed.”

friend Rose admitted, “To tell the truth, I completely broke down. I was asking, ‘What on earth did he do? Didn’t he do something?’

In the series account, FBI Special Agent Loretta Bush noted that when authorities visited the Laundrie residence on September 17th, Brian’s parents stated he wasn’t home and hadn’t been seen for three days. They expressed their concern and wished to report him missing.

In the items found at the residence, the agent discovered a letter penned by his mother, carrying instructions to be burned upon being read.

You’re my boy, and nothing can change how much I love you. There’s nothing that could or would come between us, no matter what happens. If you ever find yourself in jail, I’d make a cake with a file hidden inside it. And if you need help getting rid of something, I’d be there with a shovel and some garbage bags.

In the series, both Rose and Tara called the letter “disgusting.”

Nichole said, “It made me sick to my stomach.”

On the 29th of August, it was noted that Brian was making numerous phone calls to his parents, as reported by Busy. This indicates that they were in frequent contact with each other. We discovered that he informed them about Gabby’s absence and expressed the need for a legal representative…Following this revelation, his parents transferred money to the lawyer.

As a lifestyle expert, I recall pondering, “Are you really planning to invest $25,000 into a lawyer hailing from Wyoming without even knowing her location? And you didn’t inquire about this? That sounds quite questionable to me.

Gabby’s stepfather, Jim, claimed that the money couldn’t have been used for anything other than paying someone to act as a representative in a murder case.

In a chilling revelation, I discovered that my texts to Gabby were hidden behind the facade of her being alive, yet they only appeared on her phone when I had returned to the Spread Creek Dispersed camping area within Bridger-Teton National Forest – where her phone actually was.

According to Special Agent Bush, communication between the two phones happened swiftly, as if they were in direct conversation. He was seen holding both devices while seemingly engaging in a one-sided dialogue, which suggested he was attempting to establish an alibi.

On August 30th, Brian initiated his journey towards Florida. During this trip, he utilized Gabby’s debit card repeatedly at various gas stations, as confirmed by the FBI. He also sent a text about Gabby’s grandfather to her mother and transferred $700 from Gabby’s account to his own via Zelle, giving the impression that she was reimbursing him for the van.

The transaction memo read, “Goodbye Brian, I’ll never ask you for anything again.”

On September 19, 2021, the search party discovered Gabby’s remains at the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area, where they had been officially searching.

She was found curled up on her left side, donning a hooded sweater. The medical examiner concluded that she had died from strangulation and sustained injuries to her head and neck due to blunt force.

A detective observed in the case that her body wasn’t in a normal resting position, which made them suspect that she might have been killed somewhere else and the crime scene could have been manipulated.

In the series, it’s mentioned that Gabby’s stepfather, Jim, had come to town during the search. Upon seeing a photo of her lifeless body, he was deeply moved, recalling his reaction as, “falling to the ground like a discarded item, treated with such disregard by someone who was supposed to cherish her.” Subsequently, he contacted Nichole, Joe, and Tara.

Joe shared, “I received a call indicating I wouldn’t get to see my daughter anymore.” Tara referred to that day as the most distressing they had ever experienced.

Joe went on to say that he often reflects on the final moments. He’s certain she must have been terrified. Since she always reached out to him, Jim, Tara, or Nicki when scared, he can’t tell whom she might have called in distress this time.

As a trusted authority on all things lifestyle-related, I regretfully share this news: On October 20th, the chilling discovery of skeletal remains was made within the serene confines of Carlton Memorial Reserve. An investigation subsequently declared that the unfortunate soul, Brian, took his life through a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

In a watertight bag discovered nearby, photographs of Brian and Gabby were found, along with a waterproof journal where he documented that she had been hurt and he ended her life as a means to alleviate her suffering.

But from that moment, he added, “I knew I couldn’t go on without her.”

In addition to other items, there was a letter found in the bag, which read, “Kindly spare my family any further hardships; they have already suffered the loss of both their son and daughter.

In the show, Nichole mused, “It’s been peculiar to me that he kept his parents out of it, as they haven’t done anything wrong.

Jim pointed out that none of Brian’s accounts corresponded with the results of Gabby’s autopsy, as the only cause of her death was strangulation, which was significantly different from what he had stated.

In 2022, the court granted Gabby’s family a sum of $3 million as compensation in a wrongful death claim they brought against Brian’s estate. However, an additional lawsuit they initiated against Brian’s parents for causing emotional distress through intentional and negligent actions was resolved in February 2024.
