Shocking Details Emerge in Attempted Murder Case of Wife by Oahu Doctor!

Arielle Konig set off for a hike on Oahu with her anesthesiologist husband on March 24.

Following our photo op at the breathtaking 1,000-foot Nu’anu Pali Lookout, where I marveled at the panoramic views of the windward side of the island, I found myself in a regrettable and unfortunate situation, as alleged by Honolulu prosecutors, where my actions were perceived as an attempt to harm my wife.

36-year-old mother of two was discovered along the Pali Puka trail close to the lookout point, exhibiting numerous head and facial wounds, as stated in a March 28 press release which detailed that Gerhardt, aged 46, had been indicted by a grand jury on charges of attempted murder.

According to the statement, Gerhardt allegedly struck Arielle repeatedly with a rock and initially attempted to shove her off a cliff. After this act, he reportedly left the scene but was apprehended later on the same night during a foot chase near Nuuanu Pali Drive, as stated by prosecutors.

Attorney Thomas Otake informed TopMob News that Gerhardt intends to deny the charges of attempted murder during his court appearance on April 7, offering no additional statements at present.

In my role as a lifestyle expert, I must share an update on a recent development. Initially, bail for Gerhardt was fixed at a staggering $5 million, but following the indictment, things took a turn. Instead of being released on bail, Gerhardt has been taken into custody and is currently being held at O’ahu Community Correctional Center, as confirmed by the prosecutors.

Currently, Arielle obtained a short-term protective order from the court regarding her husband who she’s been married to for six years. They both have two young boys together, aged 2 and 4.

According to a report by TopMob News, Arielle claimed in her TRO petition filed on March 27 that Gerhardt had exhibited abusive behavior more recently prior to the alleged incident.

Here is what to know about how this case has unfolded so far:

Arielle Konig claimed in her court petition for a temporary restraining order, granted on March 28, that she had been sexually abused and assaulted by the respondent during the past few months.

In the court documents, Arielle stated that her husband, Gerhardt Konig, had accused her of being unfaithful in December. Furthermore, she claimed that his excessive jealousy resulted in attempts to regulate and scrutinize all of her communication.

Additionally, she mentioned in the petition that they had separately attended personal therapy sessions and jointly participated in marriage counseling.

On her LinkedIn profile, it is indicated that Arielle has held the position of Project Manager at TerraPower LLC, a Washington-based nuclear energy firm located in Bellevue, since September 2022. Prior to this, she was employed at Westinghouse Electric in Pennsylvania.

She earned her MBA from University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business in 2021, the page notes.

For six years prior to joining the Anesthesia Medical Group in Maui in 2023, Gerhardt served as a clinical instructor and then an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he also earned his MD degree.

Christina Ferguson, the Konigs’ housekeeper, expressed shock to NBC affiliate KHNL following her employer’s arrest, stating, “I could have never imagined this happening, not even a billion times over.

She said she had seen Gerhardt the previous week and she didn’t sense any trouble.

Christina noted that he always showed affection towards the children and her, suggesting he had a strong family-oriented personality,” or simply, “Christina observed that he was quite fond of his family.

In her TRO petition, Arielle stated that Gerhardt intended a birthday trip to Oahu over the weekend, where they would stay at a Waikiki hotel, leaving their children at home in Maui under the care of their nanny.

On March 24th, Gerhardt proposed we embark on a hike to Nu’uanu Pali Lookout, as mentioned in the petition. The trail included narrow paths with precipitous drops on either side, and as we trekked, I started feeling somewhat apprehensive, Arielle explained. I communicated to Gerhardt that I preferred not to progress any farther, as stated in the documents, and remained stationary while he ventured ahead momentarily, only to return later.

Arielle scaled a tree, and Gerhardt captured her on camera. Then, he proposed taking a selfie near the precipice of a cliff. However, Arielle mentioned feeling lightheaded, as she stated in the petition, and requested they step back from the edge instead.

As she approached him, her plea persisted, “Gerhardt seized me by my upper arms and shoved me towards the precipice. He was shouting angrily, ‘Move back over there, I’m fed up with you beyond belief!’ He kept on pushing me.

Initially, I believed he was just kidding, she stated in her plea. However, it didn’t take long for me to discern that he was genuinely attempting to push me over the edge of the cliff.

In the document, Arielle stated that she fell to the ground and Gerhardt began to grapple with her. During their scuffle, she claimed that Gerhardt retrieved a bag from him, pulled out a syringe containing an unidentified liquid, and tried to inject her with it.

According to the petition, she successfully snatched the syringe and discarded it, but noticed he still had a vial of an unknown substance. She began rummaging through his bag. Arielle surmised he was searching for another syringe, as stated in the filing, and at that point, she feared he might be seeking another syringe. This is when she allegedly bit her husband’s arm.

According to Arielle’s petition, Gerhardt appeared to become somewhat less agitated, but subsequently, he picked up a stone and violently struck her on the head multiple times, causing injuries to her face and scalp.

Attempting to defend herself, Arielle said in the filing, she suffered a broken left thumb.

In her statement, she went on to explain that she was begging and shouting at him to halt, urging him to consider their children’s well-being. She added that if she had tumbled from the cliff, it would have been highly probable that she wouldn’t have survived.

Based on reports from Honolulu Police, two individuals phoned 911 to describe a man violently attacking a woman. Upon their arrival, the authorities found that Gerhardt had left the scene, while Arielle was severely injured and taken by ambulance to a hospital, as stated by the police.

In her TRO submission, Arielle also claimed that upon being with the police, she discovered Gerhardt had video-called his adult son from a past relationship and informed him about his supposed attempt to harm his stepmother.

In the petition, it was mentioned that Gerhardt appeared to have bloodstains on him, and he confessed, saying, “I attempted to harm Ari, but she managed to escape.

In the document, Arielle claimed that prior to his arrest, Gerhardt shared with his son his intention of leaping from a cliff as a means to end his own life.

Gerhardt was apprehended around 6:10 PM that day following a short chase on foot, as reported in a police statement.

Gerhardt was indicted March 28 on a charge of attempted murder and is being held without bail.

In a statement, Prosecutor Steve Alm emphasized the gravity of the crime under investigation in this case. He stressed that acts of domestic abuse will not be tolerated and his office remains steadfast in delivering justice for victims. If anyone is experiencing or knows someone who is suffering from domestic abuse, he strongly encourages them to seek assistance.

According to Gerhardt’s legal representative, Thomas Otake, it has been arranged for Gerhardt to make an appearance on April 7th for his court hearing. During this hearing, Gerhardt is expected to deny the allegation of attempted murder that has been brought against him.

On March 28, the judge granted Arielle’s petition for a restraining order. This order lasts for 180 days, during which time Gerhardt is not allowed to contact Arielle, their children, his adult son, or Arielle’s mother and stepfather, as stated in court documents I’ve reviewed from TopMob. Additionally, he must stay away from the family’s home on Maui.

Arielle’s petition for a Temporary Restraining Order states, “I am concerned that if Gerhardt is freed from detention, he may come back to Maui and try to hurt or even kill me, in addition to endangering our children and other family members as well.

Another hearing on the petition is scheduled for April 11, according to NBC News.

Arielle is prioritizing her healing process at her home in Maui, where she’s being supported by her loved ones, as stated by her attorney Brandon Segal on April 1 to NBC News. He has requested that journalists and the public honor their privacy during this sensitive period.

Cleaning professional Christina Ferguson launched a GoFundMe campaign aiming to raise $15,000 for Arielle and her children.

Christina expressed to NBC News that the individual in question is extraordinary and undeserving of what happened. It’s difficult to comprehend the gravity of this unfortunate event. I never expected him to act this way.
