Shocking Emmerdale Twist: Is This the Last We See of Ella?

Warning: This discussion may reveal significant plot points from the Emmerdale episode that aired on Thursday, 3rd April. It is now accessible for streaming on ITVX.

In Emmerdale, Paula Lane’s character, Ella Forster, was taken away by the authorities following an altercation with Liam Cavanagh (played by Jonny McPherson). Could this be the end of her appearance on the show?

Today, I tuned into the latest episode on ITVX, where I found myself right smack in the middle of an intriguing scene. There I was, in the kitchen, face-to-face with Ella. She shared that she was searching for Liam, and moments later, Mandy (Lisa Riley) was left staggered as Ella unearthed a knife and brandished it, compelling Mandy to make that call to Liam. Quite the dramatic turn of events!

Upon Liam’s arrival, he successfully persuaded Ella that there might be an opportunity for them to reignite their relationship, provided she was truthful about her feelings.

Yet, as soon as Ella discovered that Liam was being dishonest, an argument between them ensued, leading to Ella shoving Liam into the forest where he accidentally struck his head against a stone.

Following a moment of terror where she thought she had caused harm to Liam, there was relief when he regained consciousness. However, her relief didn’t last for long as Ella was swiftly apprehended and escorted away from the scene.

Although ITV hasn’t officially confirmed Paula Lane’s departure from the soap, a social media post seemed to suggest that the actress is indeed parting ways with the show.

On her own “Talent Highlight” page posted on Instagram within her bio, Lane announced that she completed filming for Emmerdale in February 2025. This implies that her character will likely say goodbye to the ITV soap opera during the spring of 2025 on-screen.

It’s possible that we won’t see Ella again on our screens, but since we’re dealing with a soap opera here, it’s always a surprise who might reappear unexpectedly to stir up more trouble.
