Shocking Star Wars Update: Legendary Bourne Writer Confirmed for Rey’s Next Adventure!

After a long hiatus, it appears that there are several upcoming Star Wars films in the works.

Besides the exciting news about Ryan Gosling potentially taking on a lead role in a film directed by Shawn Levy, who’s known for Deadpool and Wolverine, we’ve also received updates regarding the Rey sequel movie featuring Daisy Ridley. A fresh scribe has been assigned to pen the script.

The movie that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set to direct, which takes place 15 years following The Rise of Skywalker, has previously been associated with screenwriters Damon Lindelof, Justin Britt-Gibson, and Steven Knight, who are no longer involved in the project.

Currently, a fresh draft of the script is being penned by George Nolfi, a writer known for his work on movies such as Ocean’s Twelve, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Adjustment Bureau, and The Banker.

The specifics of the movie’s storyline remain undisclosed at this time. However, Ridley hinted to Deadline in 2024 that she has some details regarding the sequel, including the addition of fresh characters.

At Star Wars Celebration 2023, it was initially revealed that the Rey movie would be released, along with another film focusing on the first individual who used the Force, as directed by James Mangold.

Another movie is likewise set to release under Dave Filoni’s direction, centering around a growing conflict between the remaining Imperial forces and the New Republic.

Filoni’s upcoming movie will likely blend the narratives presented in Disney Plus series such as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew. However, there hasn’t been much news about it recently.

Despite any details about its production, the character known as the Mandalorian will make his debut on the silver screen for the very first time in his own movie, titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” which is scheduled to premiere on the 22nd of May, 2026.
