In conversation with Deadline, co-showrunner and executive producer Olivia Milch expressed her feelings about adapting the novel for television: “As soon as we picked it up, we knew instinctively that we had to bring it to life. It has this unique ability to captivate you immediately.

It seems we’re both captivated by narratives revolving around families, sibling relationships, and the exploration of how diverse upbringings influence one’s identity throughout their lives.

Additionally, Biel emphasized the cooperative aspect of transforming the script into reality, stating: “We found so many rich resources, ranging from the exceptional scripts to the source material. The collaboration was seamless and unending.

Any modifications or tweaks we desired were welcomed: “This resonates more with who I am,” or “This seems less genuine for the character I’m portraying as Chloe,” similarly, anything Elizabeth did with Nicky, could be adjusted. The key principle was flexibility.

Although Chloe was the younger of the two Taylor sisters, she often appeared to be the one calling the shots. She was the diligent student with ambitious aspirations and an impressive work ethic.

In contrast to my driven, cautious younger sibling, I, Nicky, have a penchant for restlessness and a dash of risk-taking that often leads me astray. My career path is as unpredictable as the wind, with me hopping from one job to another, and my romantic entanglements just as transient. I tend to keep my roots firmly planted in Cleveland.
