2025 sees Dark Horse Comics and Second Sight Publishing launching into the year with a dose of terror, presenting a sneak peek at the upcoming installment in the Shook! anthology series. Titled “Shook! Songs of the Dark Sirens,” this latest anthology promises eight spine-tingling tales penned by an esteemed group of award-winning creators, all offering unique perspectives on horror from a feminine viewpoint. This new volume continues the tradition of excellence set by its predecessor, “Shook! A Black Horror Anthology,” while delving into fresh and diverse terrains within the horror genre. Marcus Roberts, the project leader, expressed that it’s been a fantastic journey collaborating with these creative individuals. He predicts that Volume 2 will swiftly earn a timeless reputation.
Essentially, Colleen Douglas, the anthology’s author, shares that stories of horror told from a female, particularly Black female, point of view carry great significance. This is due to their unique power to present various viewpoints, address social matters, offer genuine cultural representation, inspire audiences, and ultimately expand and promote diversity within the horror genre.
Micheline Hess affirms her eagerness to contribute a tale to Shook vol 2, stating, ‘I was thrilled to find an opportunity to blend three of my passions. This includes a powerful Black female protagonist, electric unicycles, and monstrous creatures!’ God’s Blood We Deliver is a narrative about an elderly woman discovering that it’s never too late to embark on a fresh career path, even amidst a Vampire Apocalypse!
