Shrek Is Coming to PowerWash Simulator

As a long-time fan of both PowerWash Simulator and Shrek, I can’t help but feel like my two worlds are colliding in the best possible way! Growing up, I spent countless hours cleaning virtual dirt off walls and now, I get to do it in Shrek’s swampy abode. It’s like a dream come true!

In today’s Indie World Showcase presentation, FuturLab unveiled a fresh collaboration for the game PowerWash Simulator, and this time players will get to clean up settings from the Shrek series! The downloadable content (DLC) will offer five distinct locations to clean, including popular sites like Shrek’s Swamp and Dragon’s Lair. The developers are keeping secret the details of the other three levels, so we’ll have to wait and see what they reveal next. As for the release date, it hasn’t been announced yet, but a video posted by Nintendo on YouTube hints that it will arrive this autumn.

A trailer for the Shrek DLC in PowerWash Simulator can be found below.

In the preview, you’ll notice various recognizable elements from Shrek’s Swamp such as the “Beware Ogre” sign and Shrek’s outhouse. The game character will don a knight-like appearance, and the washer is now modeled like a sword, designed to align with the enchanting atmosphere of the Shrek series. Unlike most PowerWash Simulator users, Shrek prefers his environment mucky. Consequently, it wouldn’t be appropriate for players to clean Shrek’s home thoroughly. Instead, his swamp residence is adorned with rainbow glitter all over, even on his bed.

Despite Shrek appearing to be an unconventional fit for PowerWash Simulator, the game’s creators have been innovative in their partnerships with various brands. Over the past year or so, SpongeBob SquarePants, Back to the Future, and Warhammer 40K have each received Special Packs. These Special Packs typically retail for $7.99, whereas the Muckingham Files DLC has been made available for free. As of now, the cost for the Shrek collaboration remains undisclosed, but it’s likely to be priced comparably. The developers at FuturLab have managed to strike a good balance between free and paid content in the game; the recent weeks have seen several free updates released, which is great news for those who prefer not to spend extra!
