What’s Next for Futurama?

Terrific tidings! The comeback of Futurama on Hulu has been thriving, ensuring fans more at least two additional seasons. In an interview with egmr.ru earlier this year, the show’s executive producers hinted that they have a desire to create a movie as well. As David X. Cohen shared, “We’ve advocated for it frequently. We did four direct-to-DVD type movies in the past, but those were quite intricate because each one needed to break down into four TV episodes…it was an extensive process.

Cohen went on to express his belief that the show could translate well into a theatrical movie. In fact, they’ve even gathered for screenings in a cinema among the cast and crew, marveling at the quality of what they produce for television. He thinks it would be fantastic, and Matt Groening shares this sentiment, with some visionary ideas should they ever decide to bring it to the big screen. However, let’s hear more from Groening about his creative thoughts on that subject.

Claudia Katz, the Executive Producer, expressed to egmr.ru that it’s challenging to surpass the excitement of reviving the show for both us and the fans. However, partnering with 20th and Hulu is exceptional. They showed their support as soon as we began, and the revival and ongoing marketing efforts are truly outstanding. I’m not certain if the show has ever received this level of thoughtfulness and teamwork before.

Bringing back a significant number of the initial team members was a great achievement for the project. Katz described his comeback as “easy and smooth”. “They say you can’t go home again, but it seems I can!” said Katz. “Returning felt quite effortless. Not only did we get our entire voice acting crew back, we have many of the original team on both the writing and animation departments. Plus, we’ve got some fantastic new talent joining us too.
