As a longtime fan of The Hairy Bikers, I find myself deeply moved by Si King‘s recent reflections on his TV journey with Dave Myers. Having grown up watching their shows and sharing countless meals inspired by their recipes, it’s hard not to feel a personal connection to this duo who brought joy into so many homes.
Following the passing of Dave Myers earlier this year, King has hinted at the prospect of reappearing on television independently.
In an upcoming documentary airing on BBC Two, titled “The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Ride Solo,” we take a trip down memory lane spanning 25 years of television for the duo Myers and King. The program highlights a charitable motorbike journey dedicated to Dave.
But without one member of the Hairy Bikers, nothing will quite be the same.
King stated that since it involved him and Dave, who is now deceased, things would inevitably need to change. He expressed a desire for the situation to be altered as well.
He went on to say, “You’ll need to check with Catherine [Cotton, the head of commissioning at BBC], to find out if I can be released once more.
What truly makes me proud is our extensive back catalog of work. This is the lasting legacy we’ve created. Our impressive back catalog exists in such vast quantities due to the continuous opportunities provided by the BBC.
Regarding King’s current plans, he is embarking on a tour titled “An Evening with Si King,” a performance that he acknowledges still requires some fine-tuning.
Not only that, but he’s also embarking on a new venture by opening a restaurant in Sunderland, not to mention moving houses and completing a book. Needless to say, he’s got quite a full plate!
