Sidney Raz experienced a heartbreaking tragedy—but it may have saved his life.

Approximately seven months after his daughter was tragically stillborn at 26 weeks due to Holoprosencephaly, a condition where the brain doesn’t fully develop, the influencer opted for genetic testing to uncover the cause of her rare birth defect. However, shockingly, he received a different diagnosis: stomach cancer.

In a video shared on TikTok on April 5th, Sidney explained, “It was only the genetic makeup of my child that managed to save my life. Now, we have a possible solution ahead.

Despite Kelsey Raz showing no unusual findings in her test results, it appeared that Sidney shared the same deletion of the CTNNA1 gene as his daughter.

Due to that deletion, it’s been discovered lately to lead to particular kinds of cancer, such as stomach cancer,” Sidney clarified. “Today, I received the news that I have been diagnosed with stomach cancer after undergoing an endoscopy.

But luckily, circumstances have led the creator to receive an early diagnosis.

Out of the 36 biopsies they had sent in, only one of them showed signs of cancer.

He continued, “The unfortunate truth is that I might need to part with my stomach, and that’s truly disheartening. However, if it means staying here, I’d gladly sacrifice multiple stomachs.

In an upcoming announcement, Sidney mentioned that it’s probable he’ll have a complete gastrectomy within the next few weeks.

“You can do that,” he said, “and keep going, apparently.”

The influencer stays hopeful regarding the future path, considering that it could have turned out far more challenging had it not been discovered earlier.

He explained, “My cancer was discovered at a stage where surgically removing my stomach is the most effective treatment.” He added, “The doctor said today that if this hadn’t been detected so early, I would likely return within three years with stage 3 or 4 cancer. So while I won’t have a stomach, I should be alive in three to four years.
