As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the news about the Silent Hill 2 team starting pre-production on their next project has sent ripples of excitement through the community. Having played every installment of this iconic series and witnessed its evolution from its humble beginnings to its dark, psychological masterpieces, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation that borders on impatience.
It’s looking like Silent Hill 2 will wrap up the year as one of its most successful titles, a feat that many didn’t anticipate just a few months ago. Given this, it’s no wonder there’s high anticipation for what the development team might do next. Of course, we know that another team within Bloober Team is currently working on Cronos: The New Dawn, set to release next year, but what will the team behind Silent Hill 2 tackle next?
Based on Wojciech Piejko’s statement, who serves as game director for Cronos: The New Dawn, it’s been revealed that they have initiated the preparatory phase for their upcoming project. In an interview with MP1st, Piejko explicitly stated that the team behind Silent Hill 2 is now beginning work on their next venture.
In Bloober Team, we have two autonomous production groups as explained by Piejko. Though they function independently, they draw from a collective pool of experience gained through past projects such as The Medium, Observer, Layers of Fear, Silent Hill 2, Blair Witch, among others. Currently, all I can share is that once the work on Silent Hill 2 has been wrapped up, the team will commence pre-production for a fresh project.
It’s worth noting that Piejko shared an interesting update – the audio team behind Silent Hill 2’s critically acclaimed sound design is now working on Cronos: The New Dawn. Given the positive feedback for Silent Hill 2’s audio, this news bodes well for Cronos.
It’s unclear what project the Silent Hill 2 team is currently developing, but many fans are speculating (or hoping) it will be another Silent Hill game. This speculation arises due to repeated hints by Bloober Team that they might collaborate with Konami on a future Silent Hill project.
