It’s said that an expansion pack for the remake of Silent Hill 2, which was highly successful last year and revitalized the franchise after more than a decade of silence, is rumored to be based on the “Born from a Wish” content from previous releases. The Silent Hill series was a cornerstone for the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 eras, but it faltered after that due to Konami’s difficulties in maintaining its momentum. The series seemed poised for a comeback under Hideo Kojima’s leadership, but unfortunately, the project disintegrated, leaving the series in cold storage for nearly a decade.
While there are several new Silent Hill games in development by Konami, one of the highlights is their successful remake of a classic game from the series, which has reinvigorated it. Fans eagerly anticipate what’s coming next. Some hope that Bloober Team might remake additional Silent Hill titles following their impressive work on the second game; however, it appears they may not have finished with Silent Hill 2 just yet, contrary to initial assumptions.
According to well-known horror gaming source, Dusk Golem, there’s a buzz that Bloober Team is developing additional content for Silent Hill 2, focusing on the “Born from a Wish” storyline. This narrative revolves around Maria in Silent Hill before James’ arrival, offering insights into her true identity. Notably, this plotline was subtly suggested in the remake of Silent Hill 2. Dusk Golem hints that Bloober Team has been working on this Silent Hill 2 Remake DLC since its October launch and anticipates an official announcement soon, aiming for a release by the end of 2025.
Dusk Golem stated, “I believe it’s almost certain that we’ll soon hear an announcement about the Silent Hill 2 Remake Born From a Wish DLC. As for whether or not they’re working on it, from what I understand, they definitely are. Previously, I had heard rumors that Bloober Team were developing it before the release of the main game, but there was little news about it afterwards. However, I recently received more information and it appears that the project is still very much active and aiming for a release by the end of this year.
It was mentioned by Dusk Golem that there were whispers of a remake for Silent Hill 2 on Xbox consoles being in development at some point. The fine print on promotions for the game stated that it would initially be exclusive to PS5 for a year, which raises the possibility that Xbox users may gain access to Silent Hill 2 later this year. It’s also speculated that any additional content (like DLC) might be included as part of a special edition or ultimate version, but this is purely conjecture on my part. Regardless, we may learn more about the DLC during tomorrow’s PlayStation State of Play event.
