As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team. With a reported average playtime of 16-18 hours for a first playthrough, it’s clear that this isn’t just a simple update; it’s a full-blown expansion of the original game.
In their remake of “Silent Hill 2,” Bloober Team preserves the core frightening atmosphere from Konami’s original survival horror game, but also introduces fresh elements such as new buildings to discover, adjustable difficulty levels for puzzles and fights, and a prolonged playtime experience that promises an even more immersive journey.
Mateusz Lenart, our creative director and lead designer, shared on Twitter that a typical playthrough lasts around 16 to 18 hours. However, if you enjoy exploring every nook and cranny of the game, looking for hidden treasures we’ve included, then it could take over 20 hours to complete.
The original Silent Hill 2 doesn’t account for New Game Plus or the various endings (including both the UFO and Dog joke endings), as confirmed by emojis. According to HowLongToBeat, the main story of the original game takes about eight hours to finish, while a completionist playthrough averages around 15 hours. It’s worth noting that the remake is significantly longer in terms of playtime compared to the original.
