Silent Hill 2 Remake’s Recent Update Reportedly Replaced PSSR with TSR in PS5 Pro Performance Mode

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say, the journey through Silent Hill 2 has been nothing short of exhilarating, albeit fraught with technical hiccups initially. However, the recent patch seems to have worked wonders, transforming the game into a smoother, more polished experience.

Initially, upon its release earlier this month alongside other PS5 Pro-enhanced games, “Silent Hill 2” encountered numerous technical problems on the console. However, in response to these issues, Konami and the game’s developer, Bloober Team, have recently issued a patch to rectify the problems last week.

According to tech analysts at Digital Foundry, the latest patch for Silent Hill 2 appears to have made significant enhancements to the game, using some innovative techniques. In particular, this update has swapped out PSSR in Performance Mode with TSR on the PS5. This change implies that the game is no longer utilizing the PS5 Pro’s exclusive, new supersampling technology, and instead it’s now employing Unreal Engine 5’s built-in upscaling system.

According to Digital Foundry’s findings, several problems mentioned earlier, like those concerning disocclusion, reflections, among others, have been addressed and eliminated. Although the image quality in this version is comparable to the base PS5’s Performance Mode, it seems that the frame rate is improved and more stable, reaching the 60 FPS goal more effectively and consistently.
