Apple TV+’s dystopian drama “Silo” is broadening its underground setting by bringing in some big-name talent, as Jessica Henwick (known from “Game of Thrones” and “Iron Fist”) has joined the cast alongside Ashley Zukerman for the upcoming third season. This announcement about casting was made recently, following Apple TV+’s unexpected decision to renew the post-apocalyptic series not just for a third but also for a fourth season. The fourth season will reportedly wrap up the adaptation of Hugh Howey’s popular trilogy.
As reported by Variety, Henwick has been cast as Helen, a sharp and insightful journalist, while Zukerman is set to portray Daniel, a driven and ambitious congressman. Both actors debuted in the Season 2 finale and will reprise their roles as regular series characters when the show resumes. With her background in popular franchises such as Star Wars, The Matrix, and Glass Onion, Henwick brings a wealth of genre expertise to her role. Zukerman, on the other hand, is recognized for his work on Manhattan, The Lost Symbol, and the Fear Street series.
In the show, set in a one-mile-deep sanctuary housing Earth’s final 10,000 inhabitants, British actress Rebecca Ferguson portrays Juliette, an engineer whose investigation into a murder uncovers intriguing secrets about their subterranean habitat. Despite the narrative branching out to incorporate elements from Howey’s second novel, “Shift,” showrunner Graham Yost has verified that Ferguson will continue playing a significant role in Season 3.
Working with Apple to adapt Hugh’s grand novels has been a deeply gratifying journey for us. We’re excited to share this entire tale on screen over four seasons, as promised. The last two installments of ‘Silo’ are coming up, and we can hardly wait to provide the show’s audience with a highly satisfying resolution to the numerous mysteries and questions hidden within the silos.” – Yost in a statement.
Though a specific launch date hasn’t been shared yet, it seems like the production will be quite extensive as Ferguson hinted that both Seasons 3 and 4 might be filmed concurrently. If the show follows its usual release pace of about 18 months between seasons, fans could potentially enjoy fresh episodes by mid-2026.
The ensemble cast, along with stars Tim Robbins, Common, Steve Zahn, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, and Remmie Milner, are set to return for a new season that will further unravel the complex puzzles surrounding the silo and the hazardous environment beyond its barriers. The third season appears poised to carry on the current storyline while offering more insights into the silos’ origins, as suggested in the Season 2 finale. Although the second book in Howey’s series concentrates less on the characters portrayed in the show, Yost’s remarks hint that the adaptation will uphold consistency between both plotlines.
Silo is now streaming on Apple TV+.
