Michael B. Jordan and “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler are planning to debut their fifth joint project this year, ramping up the excitement with a chilling twist. The dynamic duo behind “Creed” and “Black Panther” have recently completed a film called “Sinners,” an intriguingly scary horror story set in the Deep South of America. While the initial trailer for the movie offered a tantalizing glimpse, a fresh trailer for “Sinners” was unveiled on Tuesday, offering a sneak peek into the terrifying elements Coogler has crafted.
The video above presents the official confirmation of a long-standing rumor about the movie “Sinners”. Yes, as speculated since its production, this film features a group of terrifying vampires. Notably, the trailer doesn’t hesitate to display the bloodthirsty horror and violence associated with the film, emphasizing a spine-tingling scene centered around Jack O’Connell’s character.
In the series titled “Sinners“, Jordan plays the roles of dual siblings, long-lost twin brothers who revisit their hometown following years apart. Few specifics about their bond have been disclosed yet, but based on the teaser, it’s apparent that they display contrasting personalities.
So far, Jordan has been featured in every movie directed by Coogler. He played leading roles in “Fruitvale Station”, “Creed”, and “Black Panther”, and made a surprise appearance in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.
As a passionate cinephile, I can tell you firsthand that guiding a film, being an actor in those films, is no walk in the park, especially when it comes to working with someone like Jordan. But when you find that special connection with someone who truly gets you, someone who makes collaboration feel more like a joy than labor, as I have with Ryan Coogler, it’s nothing short of extraordinary.
In the movie “Sinners,” Jordan finds himself alongside a talented ensemble of actors such as Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Li Jun Li, and Delroy Lindo.
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve noticed quite a few people suggesting that the film ‘Sinners’ might have some connection to Marvel’s character, Blade. Given that both stories revolve around vampires, it’s not entirely implausible. However, many of these comparisons could be more about timing rather than similarities in content. You see, the announcement for ‘Sinners’ coincided with a period when Marvel was going through another creative overhaul on their Blade reboot. Unfortunately, this project has faced numerous hurdles over the years – from creative disagreements to industry-wide strikes. Despite these challenges, Mahershala Ali is still set to star in the upcoming Blade film, but it’s yet to take flight.
From the latest preview, it’s clear that the stories of Sinners and Blade share only their vampire themes (and the fact that Delroy Lindo appeared in the original cast of Marvel’s Blade). In essence, they have little else in common.
Sinners is set to hit theaters on April 18th.
