As a gamer with over two decades of sea-faring adventures under my belt, I must say, I’m intrigued by Ubisoft’s decision to extend support for Skull and Bones. Given my past experiences with pirate games, from Swashbuckler Online to Pirates of the Burning Sea, I’ve seen titles come and go. Yet, here we are, discussing a second year of content for this game.

Despite a rocky start, attracting fewer than one million players initially, and receiving mixed reviews, it appears that Ubisoft’s game, Skull and Bones, will continue to receive content for another year. Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, who has sources privy to the plans, claims that Season 1 is scheduled to launch early next year. This news follows Ubisoft’s decision to discontinue support for XDefiant, let go of several employees, and close down Ubisoft San Francisco and Osaka studios.

The new features may encompass fresh attractions, Player-versus-Player modes, and World Levels. Reports also suggest that Ubisoft might be exploring high-value collaboration events – a strategy popular among live games like “Overwatch 2” and “Fortnite”. It’s rumored that “Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag” could be one of these events, scheduled to launch with the anticipated remake.

The reason it’s getting more content seems to be because Ubisoft has reportedly given their full commitment to its support. Even though the initial release was not as successful, the current number of players is said to be higher than expected, although Henderson couldn’t confirm these figures independently.
