Slitterhead Endings

In Slitterhead, you can experience not one, but two distinct conclusions to the story. The first is accessible through the standard path of the game, while the second, often referred to as the “true” ending, requires a different approach. Let’s delve into both endings and unravel their secrets together.

Main Ending

In the final scene, Julee encounters Alex, who goes by Leopard Head, on a high-up terrace. She attempts to reason with him, explaining that the danger from Slitterhead has passed and there’s no need for further conflict. However, Alex is filled with rage. He refuses to forgive Julee and Night Owl for showing compassion towards some of the Slitterheads, and remains unyielding in his stance.

Overwhelmed by rage, he resorts to an alarming ability to manipulate strangers, attacking Juliette. Remarkably, Juliette prevails over him. In the end, as Alex tumbles down, the peculiar blue radiance in his eyes wanes, but he emits a last, resentful chuckle.

When Julee believes the situation has resolved, she suddenly hears a powerful sound. It appears a plane is heading directly towards her, and it’s evident that Alex has seized control of the cockpit, determined to prevent any peaceful conclusion. In an additional scene post-credits, Night Owl ponders the concept of eternity. He subtly suggests that if Julee perishes, the entire loop could restart from the beginning.

True Ending

To discuss the authentic finale, players initially have to wrap up the standard ending and subsequently replay some earlier missions to ensure a maximum casualty count of 66 or less. This action triggers a new mission titled “Last Duel RE (2nd Loop)” which offers an alternative perspective on the climactic battle between Julee and Alex. In this unique mission, it’s disclosed that “Night Owl and Leopard Head are in fact two manifestations of the same entity“.

In an unexpected turn of events, Julee and Alex clash once more, ending with Alex injured on the rooftop, much like before. However, this time, something extraordinary happens. As the world seems to stand still, we, the audience, are given a chance to intervene. By seizing control of a passenger in an overhead airplane, we can attempt to rescue Julee within just eight precious seconds. The tension is palpable!

Should Night Owl prevail, he seizes control and battles his path towards the cockpit. Leopard Head endeavors to thwart him by controlling both the pilot and a flight attendant. The mid-credits sequence depicts the plane just barely missing colliding with the building where Julee is positioned.

Following this, it becomes apparent that Alex has disappeared from sight. In an extra scene after the credits roll, we find Alex galloping off into the dark, his eyes still emitting a bright blue glow. A concluding text on the screen suggests that the struggle between Julee, Alex, and the Slitterheads continues.
