Actor Ray Nicholson has now been confirmed as part of the illustrious cast in the upcoming Netflix movie titled “The Mosquito Bowl“. The World War II production is currently slated to include the talents of both [Actor1] and [Actor2].
In the upcoming film, titled “The Mosquito Bowl,” it’s been announced that both Nicholson and Tom Francis (You) will star. Interestingly, all four main actors will take on leading roles in this production. This movie is being directed by Peter Berg, who has recently signed a new deal with Netflix for his upcoming projects. Notably, “The Mosquito Bowl” is an adaptation of the non-fiction book, “The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II” by Buzz Bissinger.
As a cinephile, I’d like to share that Berg and screenwriter Mark L. Smith (of “The Revenant” fame) have penned the script for an upcoming film adaptation titled “The Mosquito Bowl”. According to the official synopsis, this movie is set after the Pearl Harbor attack, where four prominent American college football stars put their stardom on hold to enlist in the Marines. As they gear up for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they participate in a legendary match that showcases some of the greatest players in history – a game that, for many, will be their final one played.
Ray Nicholson Stars In One of 2025’s Best Action Movies
In 2024, Nicolas Nicholson, son of the renowned Jack Nicholson, gained significant recognition for his portrayal in Smile 2, particularly for the unsettling and eerie smiles he portrayed that echoed some of his father’s past performances. However, Nicolas had an even more substantial role in the film Novocaine, which has concluded its run in theaters.
In the movie, Novocaine, Nicolas Cage’s portrayal of the antagonist, Simon, was a shocking success. It garnered an impressive 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes and raked in $33.8 million globally at the box office. Notably, Jack Quaid’s character, Nate, serves as the moral contrast to Simon’s irredeemably wicked persona.
Actor Nicolas Cage can be found sharing screen time with Samara Weaving in the film “Borderline,” which premiered in March. Additionally, he’s set to star in “The Mosquito Bowl.” Furthermore, he’ll make a special appearance in the forthcoming FX comedy series “Adults,” scheduled to debut on May 28. It’s also worth noting that Julia Fox from “Uncut Gems” is expected to appear in the upcoming series as well.
The Mosquito Bowl does not have a release date at this time.
