As a researcher studying the development of games, I find myself drawn to the intriguing concept behind Snap & Grab, a title in progress by No Goblin and set for publication by Annapurna Interactive. Essentially, it’s about mastering the art of stealthy style and photography while executing virtual heists. In simpler terms, if you’re going to ‘pull off a job’, make sure you do it with panache, a discerning eye for capturing moments, and an impeccable fashion sense.
During my visit to L.A. for Summer Game Fest 2025, I got a 30-minute opportunity to try out the game and pose some queries to the creators.
Despite a few bumps and places needing improvement, the central experience is fun, and the humor in the writing is side-splitting. So, I highly suggest giving Snap & Grab another look as the team progresses with their development.
In Snap & Grab, players take on the role of Nifty Nevada, a renowned fashion photographer who is secretly the mastermind behind various unsolved mysteries. While the public is unaware, she has an astute eye not only for fashion but also for valuable items and a brilliant mind that plots out clever heists.
As a tech-savvy catburglar, I, Nifty, am unleashed on luxurious structures at every level, my mission: to snatch something valuable. However, it’s not me who does the actual lifting – that job falls to my musclebound associates, like Brick, the powerhouse. Instead, I orchestrate the heists meticulously, capturing images of the layout and then arranging them in a flowchart blueprint for seamless execution.
Indeed, the camera plays a crucial role, and luckily, it performs admirably. Nifty can quickly pull out her camera to capture intriguing images, ranging from mouthwatering hot dog platters to quirky, top-heavy statues.
As an analyst, when the moment is ripe, I can initiate the operation and observe as events unfold. Much like myself, one may not execute it flawlessly on the first attempt, leading to a series of amusing mishaps caused by factors that were overlooked in the planning process.
One action might be to flip a switch and bring down a chandelier on an ice sculpture, but what about protecting the guards in the vicinity? How would one ensure their safety?
At No Goblin, senior designer Cessia Castillo acknowledges that the Hitman series has significantly impacted the gameplay dynamics on a moment-by-moment basis. This design choice seems fitting indeed, as there are typically multiple approaches to solving problems in this game. Furthermore, if you manage to find an item within the environment, you may have the option to pilfer it and transport it back to Nifty’s location – provided you can devise a way to do so.

In the demo I experienced, I was limited to exploring just one lavish penthouse. However, I’ve been informed that the complete version of the game will offer a variety of levels, each brimming with unique objectives. What’s more, it seems there will be added replay value through photo challenges.
The overall atmosphere is vibrant and playful, showcasing an artistic style that leans towards the exaggerated and humorous. In essence, it’s incredibly flamboyant, using this term in a sincere and positive manner.
As an avid player, I must admit there’s room for improvement in the game. The cutscenes feel quite sparse at the moment, and some of the in-game animations seem off-timing or even absent entirely.
Despite some unpolished areas that might benefit from smoothing, I’ll be closely monitoring the progress of Snap & Grab in the future. The No Goblin team seems to be onto a promising project, and I’m eager to follow its development.
As a fervent gamer, I can’t contain my excitement as I eagerly anticipate the arrival of Snap & Grab in 2026. This highly-anticipated game will grace platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (Steam and Xbox PC), and PlayStation 5. To make the experience even sweeter, it’ll be part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass offerings from day one!
