SNL 50: Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost Turn Red Carpet into Romantic Date Night

On this particular Saturday Night Live episode, Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson share the spotlight for their most recent Weekend Update segment, making it an exciting date night.

For over four and a half years, the regular cast member and his spouse graced the illustrious red carpet at SNL 50: The Anniversary Special held on February 16th at 30 Rockefeller Center. As they made their appearance, they exchanged a touching moment under the spotlight. Colin opted for a timeless tuxedo while Scarlett looked stunning in a black midi-dress adorned with jewels in its bodice and straps. (Check out all the celebrities on the red carpet here.)

During the three-hour broadcast, a memorable evening was commemorated for the renowned NBC comedy series, Saturday Night Live, as it reached its 50th anniversary since its initial airing. Interestingly enough, this show holds a significant role in the love story of Colin and Scarlett.

Absolutely, Colin, age 42, has been a writer on the show since 2005 and the co-anchor for Weekend Update since 2014. On the other hand, Scarlett, aged 40, has hosted SNL six times throughout her career, which qualifies her as a distinguished member of the exclusive “Five-Timers Club.

They initially crossed paths while working together on a show back in 2006 during Scarlett’s first hosting stint, but it wasn’t until her fifth time hosting SNL in 2017 that their relationship began to develop. (They later got married in 2020 and share a son named Cosmo, who is 3 years old, as well as a daughter named Rose, who is 10, with ex Romain Dauriac.)

Additionally, Colin and his Weekend Update co-anchor Michael Che occasionally surprise Scarlett with their wit, particularly during their yearly holiday joke exchanges. Previously, the star of Black Widow has explained how her husband shares his joke creation method with her.

In an interview with TopMob News in 2023, she admitted that her frequent response of “That’s a bit excessive!” was the joke that got the biggest chuckle.

Scarlett has shown that she can match her husband’s humor, as evidenced by her recent hilarious exchanges with Jenna Bush Hager during her week-long stint co-hosting the fourth hour of Today, where Colin made a guest appearance. During this time, they discussed Scarlett’s friend and comedian Pete Davidson’s unwise acquisition of a retired Staten Island Ferry boat.

Scarlett has proven she can be just as funny as her husband, as demonstrated by her witty conversations with Jenna Bush Hager during her recent guest hosting stint on Today’s fourth hour, where Colin unexpectedly appeared. They joked about Scarlett’s comedian friend Pete Davidson buying a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry boat, which turned out to be a less than wise decision.

Scarlett jokingly suggested, “Feel free to initiate a GoFundMe campaign for the Staten Island Ferry, if anyone is interested,” despite her husband’s objections. “I’m not entirely sure if I’m advocating for or against the Staten Island Ferry, but in this situation, we could certainly use your support. It seems our family fundraiser has expanded to include the Staten Island Ferry.
