Sarah Sherman only has love for Aimee Lou Wood.
The popular Saturday Night Live actor is now speaking out about her debated portrayal of the White Lotus actress, which garnered a range of reactions from viewers a month ago.
In a conversation with Vanity Fair on the 13th of May, Sherman expressed his eagerness to portray her character as she is truly iconic. He clarified that any discomfort caused was never intentional, and he has never pursued comedy with the aim of upsetting anyone. He feels deeply sorry if anyone was hurt by this situation.
After watching the April 12 episode of Saturday Night Live, I couldn’t help but voice my opinion about Michael Sherman’s portrayal of my character Chelsea from season three. In a series of Instagram Stories posted the following day, I expressed that I found his take on the sketch to be both mean-spirited and lacking in humor.
The individual born in Manchester, England remarked, “Indeed, we can certainly poke fun, that’s the essence of the performance; however, can’t we find a more intelligent, subtler, less crass approach?
Instead, Sherman clarified that her intention wasn’t to be unkind when she accepted the role of impersonating the alumnus from Sex Education on the long-standing NBC satirical variety show.
Sherman mentioned that the program engages with contemporary culture swiftly and directly. He emphasized the need for continuous awareness since events unfold rapidly.
The comedian went on to say, “In many ways, there are numerous aspects beyond your command in this situation. You’re called upon to assume various roles and responsibilities that you don’t have direct control over. Essentially, maintaining awareness while also contributing to the overall performance—that’s your part to play.
After the dispute, numerous celebrities voiced their support for Wood. Cara Delevingne, in particular, posted on Instagram saying, “Aimee Lou Wood, you are breathtaking, full stop.
In relation to her distinctive smile, Jameela Jamil remarked, “That’s just one of the less captivating aspects of this outstanding actor. She reminds me of our next Olivia Colman. She’s funny, thoughtful, open-hearted, and endearingly lovable.
Bowen Yang, a cast member on SNL alongside Sherman, voiced his support for her while admitting that the dentures worn by Sherman during the sketch stirred up dissatisfaction among viewers.
In an interview with Extra on April 17th, Bowen stated, “Whatever her response to that caricature may be is entirely justified. Sometimes, we forget the personal impact when dealing with parody. It’s easy to overlook such emotional costs, but this serves as a reminder. She seems to have addressed the issue with the show’s team, and I hope it leads to resolution and moving forward.
Wood later revealed Sherman personally apologized to her by sending her a gift amid the backlash.
On her Instagram Stories on April 15, Aimee displayed an arrangement of orange roses and pink carnations and mentioned Sherman in her post, saying “Thanks for the lovely bouquet.
In a related post, Jameela Jamil praised the 31-year-old actor, saying, “There’s more to this talented performer than just their smile. We’re talking about our next Olivia Colman here – funny, insightful, open, and endearingly loving.”
(Note: I have replaced “posted in reference” with “praised” for a smoother reading experience.)
In a supportive move, Bowen Yang, Sherman’s co-star from Saturday Night Live, stood up for her, addressing both her defense and the criticism surrounding the dental prosthetics used in the sketch.
As an ardent fan, let me say that whatever her response was to that caricature is entirely valid. Sometimes, in the realm of parody, we can overlook the human aspect, the emotional toll it might take. It’s a lesson we should remember often, and this incident serves as a stark reminder. It appears she’s had discussions with the show’s team about it, and I truly hope we can find a way to move past this.
Wood later revealed Sherman personally apologized to her by sending her a gift amid the backlash.
On her Instagram Stories on April 15, Aimee displayed an arrangement of orange roses and pink carnations, acknowledging them with a sweet message to Sherman: “A big thank you for the stunning blooms.
With the conflict resolved and put to rest, let’s delve deeper into what we currently know about The White Lotus season four.

With the dispute now resolved, let’s delve further into what we currently know about season four of The White Lotus.
It was confirmed by HBO that they will produce a fourth season of “The White Lotus” in January, even before the third season debuted. This decision came after the show’s creator, Mike White, presented plans for more intrigue, wealth, and chaos.
Casey Bloys, HBO’s CEO, stated to reporters in November that if Mike intends to progress and complete the four-season arc, he would certainly work on the fourth season.
Production on season four will likely kick off in 2026, according to Variety.
The crucial or important question that everyone wants to know.” In the given context, it refers to the mystery about where the producers of a show will film their fourth season. The hints they’ve been dropping suggest that they haven’t revealed the exact location yet but are providing clues for their audience.
In the upcoming fortnight, the Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi, mentioned to Deadline that they will be scouting various locations. This means they’ll have a better idea of their choice soon. As for where exactly we might find them, it seems likely that they’ll settle somewhere in Europe, though she didn’t give a specific location.
Chances, she emphasized.
Orsi mentioned, “There are certain nations marked on our map, however, there’s no news yet as we haven’t visited those places for location scouting.
In an interview with HBO, airing post-April 6 season three finale, White expressed his intention to move away from the usual “crashing waves against rocks” style for the upcoming season.
“But,” he added, “there’s always room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”
In June 2023, during his visit to Sydney for the Vivid Festival, White expressed that Australia had long been on his list of ideal vacation spots.
He expressed how exciting it would be, “Given the abundant skill and indisputable charm, it seems as if this place ticks every box for enjoyment.
The potential storylines for the series are practically limitless, except for one involving a corpse in the snow, which seems unlikely given that the main character, Mike, dislikes cold weather. David Bernad, the producer, shared this information with The Guardian in February.
Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, the Emmy-winning composer known for crafting the melodies of “White Lotus,” has announced that he will not return for season four, due to creative differences that date back to the series’ initial season.
Tapia de Veer explained to the New York Times in an interview on April 2 that it feels strange because a few months ago I informed my team that I wouldn’t be returning and was leaving. For several reasons, I didn’t tell Mike about this decision until close to the end; I wanted to surprise him with the news for maximum impact. (However, Mike did find out before the end of the season, as he stated.)
Regarding the memorable theme tune he composed for the first season, which was also used in the second, Tapia de Veer commented, “It seems successful once you hear it later on, but getting to that point is a challenging process” as White initially “wasn’t interested in the theme.
I took it upon myself to revamp the opening sequence for season three, even though no one explicitly asked me to do so. The response from fans was quite vocal and somewhat surprising, demonstrating just how passionate they are about the show.
When the new version was released, Tapia de Veer received calls from TMZ, as well as individuals from England and France, seeking comments regarding the theme change. People were enraged by the alteration, which Tapia de Veer found intriguing. She contacted the producer, suggesting that it would be beneficial to eventually share the extended version with the “ooh-loo-loo-loos” as people might react strongly if they discover it was intended. The producer agreed, but Mike ultimately removed that part, as he wasn’t pleased with the idea.
The composer stated, “In essence, by then, it seemed like we’d had our final argument for good, as far as I can tell. He was essentially refusing any suggestions.
During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on April 8, White criticized Tapia de Veer for publicly expressing her grievances in such a manner, referring to it as an underhanded or manipulative tactic.
White expressed that they are unsure of the circumstances surrounding the situation, but have since been looking through his interviews as he appears to be conducting a public relations effort regarding his departure from the show. They simply feel that he did not treat them with respect.
The producer went on, stating that they hadn’t truly engaged in a fight. Instead, he claimed there were disagreements, but it essentially boiled down to him offering suggestions.
During the initial two seasons, their partnership was successful as per White, due to the exchange of ideas. However, by season three, Tapia de Veer expressed a desire to work independently and no longer wished to receive feedback, attend meetings or participate in sessions with me.
And, White added, “He’s definitely making a big deal out of just a creative difference.”
Delighted was White upon learning that Jon Gries, the actor who portrayed Tanya’s enigmatic suitor Greg in season one and her cunning spouse in season two, consented to return for a role in season three as the wicked widower Gary. However, Gries hinted that his character (also known as Greg) may no longer be around, according to his current knowledge.
However, that’s what he thought last time.
He mentioned to The Hollywood Reporter that he isn’t sure if he’ll return after the end of season three, as Gary’s secret remains safe for now. However, he always assumes that whenever he leaves, it’s the end.
Nevertheless, even though the idea of welcoming fresh guests at each resort sounds enticing, as he put it to The New Yorker, “I could destroy the house at the end of every season and rebuild anew,” the series has demonstrated that if you’re not deceased, you can still… (reappear or continue in some way)
Mike White’s actions are unpredictable, as acknowledged by Gries in an interview with THR. He never assumed he’d be part of season two or three, and each new development from White carries an element of surprise. While I would welcome the opportunity to return, it remains uncertain if Greg’s story has reached its conclusion; I can’t give you that answer.
In all likelihood, apart from a prequel or a scenario involving different universes, there seems no other way for Jennifer Coolidge’s character Tanya to reappear, save through flashbacks or dream sequences. However, since her sudden fall from a yacht in the season two finale, which ultimately unveiled her as the mystery corpse following her being the sole returning character from season one, there has been an ongoing wish for her return.
White expresses regret for the absence of Coolidge, yet remains silent on the matter of Tanya’s death, a character who despite her good intentions and wealth was easily deceived.
On TopMob News in January 2023 following the season two finale, Coolidge commented about White: “He’s quite firm with his choices. He’s a fantastic friend, but I believe he’s made up his mind. He desired a grand, theatrical, operatic Italian conclusion for White Lotus 2, and he was willing to sacrifice Tanya.
She unequivocally stated to The New Yorker that Tanya wouldn’t be appearing in Thailand during season three. In essence, she said, “It seems unlikely that Tanya will return, so I must accept this reality.
