As a movie enthusiast with over four decades of cinematic exploration under my belt, I must admit that the new Snow White trailer has stirred a mix of emotions within me. On one hand, I am thrilled to see yet another classic Disney animation brought to life on the big screen, especially by a director like Marc Webb who has proven his prowess in the superhero genre. The musical numbers from The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen certainly add an exciting twist to this timeless tale.
Following the contentious comments from Rachel Zegler, we’ve now unveiled the trailer for the live-action adaptation – a modern take on the timeless Disney animated classic, Snow White. Despite being nearly 90 years old, this film remains one of Disney’s most iconic animated features.
Marc Webb, famed for helming the Amazing Spider-Man films, is currently directing a project boasting tunes from The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen’s Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
2023 saw the long-awaited appearance of Zegler and Gal Gadot, who plays the wicked Witch, at Disney Con to promote their upcoming project. However, the movie’s release was delayed by a year due to the SAG strike, and Zegler’s comments to the press didn’t help matters. Her remarks about Prince Charming being “creepy” and Snow White not seeking love but leadership caused quite a stir on social media. The public response was extremely negative, and the revelation that the film would feature seven dwarves and other fantastical creatures only added fuel to the fire among die-hard fans who are now even more upset about the changes in the classic story.
The teaser trailer recreates several iconic shots form the original and form what we can see here it does look good. It is one of several Disney live-action movies to open in the coming months. First up is Mufasa: The Lion King, which bows on Dec. 20. The live-action remake business has been a strong one for Disney, especially prior to the pandemic, when it was almost routine for films such as Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin to gross $1 billion.
