As a person who has followed the Emmy Awards for years, I am absolutely thrilled to see such a diverse and talented group of nominees this year. It’s truly inspiring to witness the hard work and dedication of these individuals recognized by the Television Academy.
Television’s biggest night is nearly here.
As a long-time television enthusiast and industry insider, I can’t help but feel a thrill of excitement as I hear the news that the 2024 Emmy nominations have been announced. The anticipation leading up to the ceremony is always palpable, and having worked in the TV business for years, I can attest to the sheer hard work and dedication that goes into creating award-worthy content. The buildup to the live broadcast on Sept. 15 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles promises to be an electric experience, and I can’t wait to see who will take home the prestigious Emmy awards this year.
During a live broadcast on July 17, Sheryl Lee Ralph from “Abbott Elementary” and Tony Hale, formerly of “Veep,” revealed the nominees for television’s most prestigious accolade. The list these esteemed actors presented suggests that the 76th Emmy Awards could be the most challenging to predict due to the exceptional caliber of contenders.
Sofia Vergara became the first Latin actress to earn a nod in the Outstanding Lead Actress category for a Limited or Anthology series, with her role in “Griselda.” At 52 years old, she had previously been nominated four times for her acting in “Modern Family.”
The host expressed his gratitude in a statement, sharing that “Griselda” was my initial dramatic character I brought to life after a 15-year journey. I’m deeply appreciative of all those involved in this project.

To be acknowledged in the same breath as Jodie, Brie, Juno, and Naomi – women who have graced our screens with their exceptional talents and unforgettable performances this year – is an immense honor that I will cherish forever.
Regarding the front-runners for this year’s awards: “The Bear” broke the record for most comedy series nominations with an impressive 23 mentions, surpassing “30 Rock’s” previous high of 22 in 2009. “Only Murders in the Building” came in second place with a total of 21 nominations, while “Abbott Elementary” received eight nods.
In the world of dramas, I’m thrilled to share that “Shogun” has taken the lead with an impressive 25 nominations at the upcoming awards ceremony. I’ve been keeping a close eye on things and can confirm that “The Crown” and “The Gilded Age” have also made significant strides with 18 and 6 nominations respectively. After the 2023 ceremony saw a dominant performance from “Succession” and its talented cast, including Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and Matthew MacFayden, it’s anyone’s game for the drama series category this year. The anticipation is palpable!
In the 2024 Emmys, noteworthy nominees include Ayo Edebiri, who earned her second nomination this year for “The Bear,” having won her first award last year. Additionally, 36 newcomers were recognized with their first nominations. Among them are Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who recently won an Oscar for her role in “Only Murders in the Building” as a guest star, Ryan Gosling for his April hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live,” and Richard Gadd, who received two nominations for his acclaimed semi-autobiographical horror thriller “Baby Reindeer.”

When I received the news from Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego during the live nominations announcement on July 17 that I had earned my second Emmy nod for my work on Abbott Elementary, I couldn’t contain my excitement and exclaimed, “This still feels like a dream come true!” or “Hearing about this second Emmy nomination is just as thrilling as the first time!”
The star expressed her shock and emotion on Instagram, writing “I’m 90% positive my pottery studio misunderstood me when I exclaimed ‘What?’ and burst into tears upon learning that ‘Girls5eva’ earned two Emmy nominations. Bravo to our talented team @scardinoandsons and writers, and a well-deserved nod to the amazing @sarabareilles for her song ‘Medium Time’. Lionel expressed his continued awe at the success we achieved in 1985, and was even more astonished after receiving an Emmy nomination for “The Greatest Night In Pop.” He went on to say, “Working with Netflix to recreate this historical moment has been an immense pleasure.
