Solo Leveling Fuses With Venom For New Last Dance Collaboration

As a film enthusiast who’s lived through the anime boom of the 90s and the Marvel Cinematic Universe era, I can confidently say that the recent crossover between Solo Leveling and Venom is nothing short of spectacular. The symbiote-infused action and intrigue are a perfect blend of two universes I hold dear.

Earlier this year, Jinwoo Sung made an entrance into the anime realm through the adaptation of “Solo Leveling”. This South Korean Manhwa tale swept across the globe remarkably swiftly, with the debut episode of its distinctive anime series causing Crunchyroll to malfunction due to the influx of eager anime enthusiasts trying to catch a glimpse of the next major sensation. With a feature film and the anime’s second season upcoming, Jinwoo faces some substantial challenges ahead but is ready to experiment with a symbiote in his leisure time. To cash in on the recent launch of “Venom: The Last Dance”, Solo Leveling has assigned its characters roles analogous to Eddie Brock and his symbiote.

In Solo Leveling’s first series, Jinwoo significantly boosted his power, reaching unprecedented levels. However, his storyline doesn’t end there. In the final episode of the first season, Sung fought and defeated one of his most formidable opponents to obtain an elixir capable of curing his mother’s ailment. This victory allowed Jinwoo to “advance” to a new class, becoming a necromancer. The second season of Solo Leveling is expected to make waves in the anime community when it debuts in January of the coming year.

Venom: An Anime Star?

Although characters such as the X-Men, Blade, Iron Man, and Spider-Man have made their way into the anime realm in various manners, the character of Venom remains unrepresented in anime so far. However, it’s important to note that the opportunity for Eddie Brock and his symbiote to captivate audiences in the anime medium has not been entirely ruled out, as there is a manga that features the symbiote in a unique way.

In recent times, Marvel Comics have been exploring the realm of manga more extensively, as demonstrated by titles such as Deadpool: Samurai appearing on shelves. One such manga, Spider-Man: Fake Red, released last year, was created by Yusuke Osawa and presents a novel Spider-Man figure who assumes the role of New York City’s guardian from Peter Parker. While avoiding spoilers, this mini-series includes elements involving the symbiote and could potentially make for an engaging anime adaptation if ever brought to television.

In a recent instance, this crossover isn’t the initial time that “Venom: The Last Dance” has been involved in an anime collaboration; Marvel’s well-loved symbiote character joined forces with one of Sanrio’s top-notch figures. To mark the final film of the Venom trilogy, Kuromi – a Sanrio mascot – adopted a similar approach as “Solo Leveling” did in replicating the iconic poster. Here’s hoping anime enthusiasts will get to witness more Venom crossovers before the movie concludes its stint in cinemas.
