I eagerly dove into the thrilling second season of “Solo Leveling,” where the Red Gate Arc unfolds in the initial two episodes! The narrative picks up with me, a Hunter, attending Jinah’s parent-teacher meeting. With my skills known, her teacher asks me to persuade Songyi, a fresh E-Rank Hunter, to resume her education and lead an ordinary life. To show her the hazards of being a Hunter, I decide to bring her to a C-Rank gate, thinking she’d be terrified by the monsters lurking there. We tag along with the White Hunters Guild for this mission, observing as they believe the task to be relatively simple.
In a turn of events, the scenario becomes perilous as they encounter a Red Gate, trapping the hunters in a bleak, snowy terrain. Kim Chul opts to select only high-ranking hunters, reasoning that the less capable ones would be a hindrance. Regrettably, even with this decision, Kim Chul’s team faces annihilation at the hands of Ice Elves, while Jinwoo’s team remains unscathed and in relative ease amidst the harsh conditions. Even when the entire tribe assaults them, Jinwoo effortlessly defeats them, including their chief, Baruka. This feat, impressive as it is, surpasses the abilities of an A-Rank hunter like Kim Chul.
Warning: Minor spoilers from the Solo Leveling Manhwa Ahead!
Solo Leveling Season 2 Will Confirm Jinwoo’s Rank
It’s clear that Jinwoo is an S-Rank hunter, given his ability to conquer a Red Gate singlehandedly. He commands a horde of undead, which only becomes more powerful under his control. When confronted by Baek Yoonho, he remains unfazed. In Chapter 61, after assaulting the Demon Castle, Jinwoo acknowledges that he has earned the S-Rank title, and any attempt to deny it would be pointless. The reason he concealed his strength was to avoid unnecessary attention and potential dangers from other hunters who might try to misuse his exceptional talent for leveling up.
In the course of the Retesting Rank Arc, Yoonho acknowledges that Jinwoo could have been just as powerful as him when they initially crossed paths. However, it’s now evident that Jinwoo has ascended to a new level again. At a mere glimpse, Yoonho recognizes the fearsome might of Jinwoo’s abilities due to his primal intuition. The next phase in “Solo Leveling” Season 2 will unfold the Demon Castle Arc followed by the Retesting Rank Arc where Jinwoo’s status as an S-Rank hunter becomes public knowledge. This revelation will attract attention from top guilds across the nation, even the Hunter Association, yet none can tempt Jinwoo away from his personal objectives.
Even though Jinwoo holds the title of an S-Rank hunter, his power outshines every other hunter nationwide. With boundless strength, Jinwoo’s prowess keeps growing, leaving all others behind. In the Dungeons and Lizards Arc during Season 1, Jinwoo confessed that Woo Jinchul, an A-Rank Hunter and association member, was stronger than him. However, since becoming a Necromancer, it has only taken Jinwoo a few short months to surpass Jinchul and every other hunter.
