Solo Leveling: Jinwoo Is Too Over-Powered in Season 2

The second season of “Solo Leveling” has been a significant milestone in the anime world, as Jinwoo significantly enhances his warrior abilities beyond what was shown in the first season. This transformation is not only due to Jinwoo’s anime character progressively increasing his strength, speed, and other attributes, but also because he has acquired a new class – a “necromancer.” In simpler terms, a necromancer is a sorcerer who can manipulate mana/magic to resurrect fallen enemies and augment his forces. On the downside, this new ability has somewhat diminished the intensity of potential dangerous situations that could have been life-threatening in previous scenarios.

How did Jinwoo reach this stage in the story? Let me share an interesting backstory. He managed to advance by defeating Igris, the Blood-Red Commander, who resembles a formidable villain from a From Software game. This victory not only enhanced his abilities but also granted him a new class and added Igris, along with numerous soldiers he fought during that battle, to his roster.

When the second season started, our protagonist from ‘Solo Leveling’ faced a Red Gate, which led him to confront ice bears and ice elves who were hostile towards intruders in their snowy realm. As expected, these adversaries were also added to his collection of enemies. When he returned to Hell’s Tower, Sung’s increased power has made the challenges somewhat trivial for our hero.

Jinwoo’s Hell Tower Adventure

Delving deep into the treacherous Hell Tower, I’ve been methodically overcoming each trial – essentially annihilating hordes of demons by leveraging my raw power and swiftness. When I cross paths with one of these demon lords, I summon my spectral army as a strategic move, maintaining a defensive stance against the lesser enemies while saving my full force for the colossal red terror.

Despite the demon king decimating a significant portion of my forces, battling this monstrous entity feels almost effortless thanks to my backup providing me with the weapons I need when I need them most. It’s an exhilarating dance of power and strategy in the heart of darkness.

Indeed, in the concluding scene of the last episode, we witness Jinwoo instilling terror into yet another undead overlord, as his shadowy troops decimated some of the toughest demons residing within the Hell Tower. For avid readers of the Solo Leveling manhwa, it’s no secret that Jinwoo encounters trials ahead, but considering his present might, it might be engaging to see the anime scale back his power level somewhat, perhaps earlier rather than later.

Jinwoo Needs More Weaknesses

Jinwoo’s “mana level” is a vulnerability when it comes to the respawning of defeated foes into allies, similar to a video game mechanic. As Sung summons vast numbers of them, the amount of magical enemies at his disposal decreases. However, this doesn’t seem like much of a disadvantage since the protagonist can continue summoning seemingly limitless forces for his journey.

Among the flaws in Jinwoo’s abilities, there’s one that stands out as slightly more intriguing. It seems he cannot revive an adversary stronger than himself – a fact he learned when he tried to revive the Ice Elves’ leader. However, Sung had backup forces (or his shadow) that enabled him to defeat the elven opponent. An engaging twist could be Jinwoo potentially losing command over his troops due to various circumstances, so let’s hope more vulnerabilities are revealed for Sung as the epic saga of Solo Leveling unfolds.
