Even though it’s just started with only two episodes, Season 2 of Solo Leveling is impressively meeting its hype by showcasing Jinwoo’s enhanced abilities and bringing in new, formidable adversaries along with potential allies like Iron. It’s worth noting that the most recent episode also deepens the narrative as a perplexing glitch sets the stage for the main conflict of the series to unfold.
In the second episode of Season 2 from the series Solo Leveling, protagonist Jinwoo engages in combat with Baruka, the ruler of the Red Gate dungeon. During their battle, Baruka discloses some enigmatic details, hinting that Jinwoo might not be entirely human. To heighten the mystery, an unusual malfunction interrupts Baruka mid-speech and inexplicably causes him to repeat a sentence about the Ice Elves, leaving both viewers and Jinwoo puzzled about their identity and reasons for killing humans.
Solo Leveling’s Ice Elf Glitch Hides the Series’ Biggest Secrets
In Episode 2, the dialogue between Baruka and Jinwoo unveils some significant details. Firstly, it’s evident that Jinwoo somehow understands the Ice Elves’ language, a fact that appears to be quite peculiar. Secondly, Baruka suggests that Jinwoo is not human, which he questions after noticing him pretending to be one. Baruka hints at this assumption because magic beasts typically hear a voice in their mind urging them to attack humans. However, interestingly, this commanding voice seems to be absent when it comes to Jinwoo, leading Baruka to suspect that he might not be human after all.
In Episode 2, as the title implies, it appears that Jinwoo is unaware of certain crucial details, hinted by Baruka’s vague response and the brief glitch in their conversation. The glitch suggests that something or someone prevented Baruka from disclosing more information to Jinwoo at that moment. This hidden information seems to be linked to Jinwoo’s true identity, specifically whether he is truly non-human, and why Ice Elves and other magical creatures wish to harm humans. As the story unfolds, it seems both viewers and Jinwoo will eventually uncover these secrets. For now, it’s evident that the world of Solo Leveling conceals numerous mysteries.
Warning: Spoilers For Solo Leveling‘s Manhwa Below!
Why Did Baruka Glitch and What Was He Going to Say?
In Episode 2, several intriguing mysteries remain unresolved: the cause of the glitch and Baruka’s intended revelation. The South Korean webtoon series “Solo Leveling” provides solutions to these puzzles. The glitch was triggered by an unexpected intervention from Jinwoo’s System or its creator, the Architect, who sought to prevent Jinwoo from discovering the truth about the origin of the gates, magical beasts, and his role in the larger scheme. Baruka’s intended disclosure was halted due to these same reasons.
According to the Double Dungeon Arc’s conclusion, it was initially intended that Jinwoo’s body would house the Shadow Monarch Ashborn. The game-like System was designed to enhance Jinwoo’s body to endure Ashborn’s full power. Baruka may have mistaken Jinwoo for something other than human due to the Shadow Monarch’s influence within him. The nature of the glitch concealing information remains unclear.
It’s possible that Baruka was on the verge of disclosing that he and his fellow Ice Elves are often referred to as Inhabitants of Disarray, and perhaps even divulging that they had been part of the Frost King’s forces. He might have continued to expose the reality behind the ongoing conflict between the Leaders and Monarchs. It was also possible that he would have elaborated on the real cause for the voice in their minds urging them to slay humans, which stemmed from the magic stones implanted within them by the Leaders. As subsequent storylines unveil, inciting magical creatures against humans, transporting them to Earth through gates was all part of the Leaders’ strategy to fortify humanity enough to endure the upcoming war between the Monarchs and the Leaders.
Since Jinwoo’s main role was to serve as a host, the Architect may have considered it unnecessary for him to know this specific information. That’s why the System stepped in to prevent Baruka from disclosing it.
So far, Season 2 of Solo Leveling has been moving at a swift tempo, but don’t expect all secrets to be revealed just yet. As we approach the Return to Demon Castle Arc, it looks like these hidden mysteries will only grow more intriguing, making the upcoming installments of Solo Leveling definitely worth looking forward to.
