A year following its impressive debut last winter, the sensational franchise “Solo Leveling” by Chugong and A-1 Pictures is back for a second season, accompanied by an amazing new ending theme from TK of Ling Tosite Sigure. Apart from action-packed sequences, Season 2 of “Solo Leveling” will delve further into the mysteries surrounding Jinwoo’s abilities and the enigmatic System that granted them. However, it seems that the series’ new ending theme may have revealed a significant plot twist for the series.
In the latest ending theme for “Solo Leveling,” there are two apparent versions of the protagonist, Jinwoo. One resembles his former E-rank self, while the other is his current self post-reawakening in the double dungeon. A fresh fan theory proposes that the man depicted sitting on a throne and offering his hand to the old, weak Jinwoo in “Solo Leveling” Season 2’s ending theme might not be Jinwoo himself but rather Ashborn – the original Shadow Monarch who bestows Jinwoo with his powers as he seeks a new host.
Solo Leveling‘s Season 2 Ending Teases the Original Owner of Jinwoo’s Powers
In the popular series “Solo Leveling,” there have been numerous contrasts between the original Jinwoo and his revitalized self. However, the ending theme for Season 2 might present a unique exception to this pattern. A significant clue supporting this theory is the color of Jinwoo’s eyes in the new ending theme.
At the finale’s climax, there’s a quick, intense shot focusing on Jinwoo. What stands out is that his eyes, unlike his usual gray, now shine an astonishing blue. This could be another significant indication that Jinwoo embodies Ashborn in some way. Previously, Jinwoo’s powers manifested as blue glow when utilized, while Ashborn’s power typically appears purple. However, the concluding scene incorporates imagery often linked to Ashborn, further suggesting this connection.
The scene features an empty throne like Igris’s, along with a beautifully carved alabaster fortress that dominates the entire sequence, resembling Ashborn’s pocket dimension where the Shadow Army dwells. Additionally, the concluding part of the sequence briefly shows Jinwoo’s dormant black heart, symbolizing the power of the former Shadow Monarch residing within him.
By referring to this character as Ashborn instead of Jinwoo, the new ending theme gains a fresh perspective, particularly where Ashborn reaches out to Jinwoo in that scene. As season 2 unfolds, it seems we’ll uncover more about Ashborn’s true identity, but it might take until at least season 3 or later before we fully understand Jinwoo’s powers as the Shadow Monarch. However, knowing the truth ahead of time only makes those subtle hints of foreshadowing even more enjoyable to spot, which is why Solo Leveling continues to captivate not just its newer fans, but also its most dedicated followers.
