The second season of “Solo Leveling” is drawing close to its conclusion, focusing on the events unfolding in the Jeju Island Arc – a significant and extended storyline within the series. Ever since its premiere, the anime has been building anticipation by introducing an original scene depicting a tragic incident that transpired three years back during the third raid. This unfortunate event led to the loss of numerous hunters’ lives due to a dungeon break, causing the island to be isolated. To everyone’s surprise, Jongin Choi and his guild found out that the ant monsters on the island have been rapidly evolving over the past three years – now sporting wings and aiming to cover great distances.
In a chilling turn of events, the Association’s darkest fear materializes as one of the monsters successfully invades a tranquil Japanese town, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. Despite the valiant efforts of the local Hunters, they prove unable to thwart this terror. Following Jinwoo’s ascension to S-Rank Hunter, South Korea initiates a fourth offensive. Ryuji Goto and other high-ranking Japanese Hunters offer their assistance in this mission. Unbeknownst to the Association, Ryuji harbors a sinister intent. As they grapple with this imminent crisis, the Association gladly accepts Ryuji’s help, desperate for any advantage they can get. In anticipation of Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 12, Aniplex provides a sneak peek on YouTube, inadvertently revealing the death of a significant character.

Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 12 Spoils Goto Ryuji’s Death
Following his confrontation with the Hunters within the cave, the Ant King hastens towards the outside in pursuit of the “Human Leader.” Upon spotting Goto Ryuji there, he queries whether this individual is indeed the king. With a sense of self-worth derived from his abilities, Ryuji acknowledges himself as the ruler and meets an immediate demise at Beru’s hands. Beru then ventures to find a suitable adversary, encountering Jinwoo. In the sneak peek, we witness a head dropping from a shoulder for approximately two seconds. Given the character’s hairstyle and coat, it is not challenging to deduce that this unfortunate fate befalls Ryuji. Even fans who only watch the anime will quickly grasp this revelation.
Nevertheless, the fanbase won’t shed tears over the demise of this character because they didn’t find him likeable enough, despite his significant role in this storyline. In truth, he merely feigned collaboration with the Korean Hunters, intending to undermine their nation by causing the S-Rank Hunters to perish within the dungeon. Although these two nations haven’t openly declared war on each other, Japan harbored concerns about their increasing might. Ryuji aimed to achieve National Hunter status by conquering the dungeon himself and was certain his scheme would succeed.
The title of “National Level Hunter” is earned by individuals who successfully conquer an S-Rank Dungeon, a challenge that seldom occurs and is rarely conquered even when it does. In Japan, Ryuji was renowned as the strongest Hunter, needing just this mission to become legendary. Yet, he underestimated the Ant King and met an untimely demise before engaging in combat. The episode will air on Saturday, March 22nd.
