"Something" Nintendo Switch 2 Related Reportedly Getting Revealed This Month

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement when rumors of a new Nintendo console start swirling. The anticipation is always palpable, and the suspense is almost unbearable.

Speculation about Nintendo’s upcoming video game console has been persisting for several weeks, with hints pointing towards an unveiling in September. At present, there’s no official confirmation regarding the Nintendo Switch 2, but the chatter surrounding it is growing, and it’s not just the regular sources providing the intel. The most recent individual to express such speculation is Christopher Dring, head of GamesIndustry.biz. On Twitter, he stated that there are “rumblings in the industry about a ‘something’ Switch 2-related event this month.” Similarly, Andy Robinson of Video Games Chronicle mentioned that it appears “several media outlets have been briefed on this matter.”

It’s only certain that the unveiling of Switch 2 will occur between now and March 2025’s end; however, many anticipate it in September. The reason behind this expectation seems to stem from the latest Nintendo Direct. Typically, these events happen in September, serving as a roadmap for October through January or February releases. This year, Nintendo hosted a Direct Partner Showcase and an Indie World event separately instead. Some speculate that these changes were made to create space for a separate event this month, possibly focused on the new console

As of now, it remains uncertain when exactly Nintendo will unveil the successor to their Switch console (and whether it will indeed be called ‘Switch 2’). However, industry analysts predict that the release might occur within the first half of 2025, following the conclusion of Nintendo’s current fiscal year on March 31st. This suggests a potential launch window between April and June. Since Nintendo’s existing sales forecasts do not factor in a new system, any adjustments may be made during the subsequent fiscal year

One of the few definite statements from Nintendo is that there will be less time between the console’s unveiling and launch compared to what occurred with the Switch. A possible scenario would be an announcement in September followed by a release in April or May. Yet, it’s also plausible that Nintendo may delay even further. The company is set to introduce a Zelda-themed Switch Lite this month, and there’s speculation they might prefer not to disclose a new system if it could potentially harm sales. For now, we can only guess and await Nintendo’s official announcement for the exact release date
