As an avid Sonic the Hedgehog fan, I’m excited to share some intriguing news! Recently, Sega has unveiled a new trademark titled “Sonic Blitz.” This revelation might give us a sneak peek into their upcoming plans for our beloved blue blur. The trademark was registered on January 29th and was made public this week. However, the purpose of this trademark remains a mystery at the moment; it could potentially be a new game, but it could also point towards something entirely different.
To clarify, this trademark is not related to the mobile game “Sonic Rumble.” That being said, it might just be another unique mobile game in the Sonic universe! Keep your fingers crossed and let’s wait for more updates from Sega!
If Sonic Blitz is indeed a new mobile game, there’s a chance we may encounter pre-release leaks similar to what happened with Sonic Rumble. Information about Sonic Rumble surfaced online well before its official announcement, revealing details about the gameplay and even an early title. Given that Sonic has been featured in several mobile games recently, it’s plausible that Sonic Blitz could be another addition to that list. Intriguingly, some fans have speculated that Sonic Blitz might be football-themed, which could be an interesting move on Sega’s part!
At this moment, it’s uncertain what specific plans Sega has, but we do have information about at least one Sonic-themed game under development. During The Game Awards last December, a brief teaser video unveiled Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which showcased Shadow the Hedgehog driving a car and passing through a portal. There’s been speculation that this racing game may incorporate characters and settings from the Paramount movies, but no official confirmation has been made yet. Although we don’t have a release date, voice actor Colleen O’Shaughnessey for Tails recently confirmed to ComicBook that recording for the game’s voice work has already been completed.
It’s likely that we won’t get our hands on “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds” until later this year. The success of “Sonic x Shadow Generations,” which was released in October, has been impressive for Sega so far. To prevent sales cannibalization with “Sonic x Shadow Generations,” Sega might delay the release of “Sonic Blitz.” If “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds” is a console game, it’s uncertain when Sega would schedule its launch.
The popularity of the Sonic films has sparked a surge of curiosity across various Sonic platforms, ranging from animated series, video games, toys, and merchandise. However, the broad nature of this trademark poses an issue since it could pertain to just about any Sonic-related product. Fingers crossed that we won’t have to wait much longer for a disclosure; in the meantime, Sonic enthusiasts can only speculate on what Sega will unveil in the near future.
