Sonic & DC Toys: New Crossover Figures Coming Soon!

Characters from Sonic the Hedgehog series are engaged in an extensive crossover with the Justice League and DC Universe right now, which is being unfolded in a limited comic book series. It’s been made clear for some time that this is just the start, and today, Jakks Pacific announced plans to manufacture action figures, vehicles, and plush toys inspired by this crossover event. In a press statement, Kevin Feely, vice president of marketing at Jakks Pacific, discussed their partnership, highlighting their aim to cater to fans across various age groups.

According to Feely, it’s an honor for JAKKS to spearhead the toy production for this groundbreaking entertainment blend. Combining Sonic’s speed and flair with the iconic heroes from DC Comics lets us develop unique, desirable, and incredibly enjoyable products that cater to fans of all ages. Fans of both Sonic and DC are in store for something truly extraordinary!

At present, no details about the figures have been disclosed yet. It’s quite possible that each Sonic character will be depicted as a different Justice League member. So far, designs for six characters have been unveiled: Sonic as The Flash, Shadow as Batman, Knuckles as Superman, Amy as Wonder Woman, Tails as Cyborg, and Silver as Green Lantern. As for the vehicles, both franchises’ famous ones have appeared in the comic series, such as Amy’s Pink Cabriolet and the Batcycle. It seems plausible that these vehicles will also be included in the toyline.

It’s no wonder that Jakks Pacific is participating in the partnership; they’ve been manufacturing Sonic-themed toys for quite some time across games, movies, and TV series. There’s a strong possibility that Funko and LEGO, who have previously launched products tied to both Sonic and DC universes, might join in too. As of now, the merchandise isn’t scheduled for release until autumn, but we can hope for sneak peeks before then.

The main query that continues to swirl around the collaboration between DC and Sonic the Hedgehog revolves around whether it will produce any fresh video game material. Warner Bros., given their enthusiasm for further collaborations post-MultiVersus, seems open to more partnerships, but it might be overly optimistic to anticipate a full-fledged video game based on this narrative. However, it would certainly be exciting to witness character skins from these franchises in games such as Sonic x Shadow Generations or even the presence of Justice League members and their vehicles in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
